2. BLACK SWAN - 2010 THRILLER FILM
The contrasting dark and light colours within
this poster work well together, and make the
eyes of the model stand out more than
anything else, which could reflect upon the
storyline and plot. I like edit of the colour red
on the eyes, and that it is situated on the
eye line of the reader, making it the first
thing that they see.
The repeated use of the same colours such
as read and black throughout the whole
page creates a clear structure and
combines everything together, which is
something I would like to use within my own.
I like the use of quotes to advertise the film,
as it gives the audience some feedback as
to what others think of it already.
I think this is quite simple, yet powerful front
cover, and appeals to the audience of this
thriller/horror magazine effectively.
3. The use of colour within this magazine cover is used
INCEPTION - 2010 FILM effectively, with sticking with five colours to use
throughout the page. The colour red is used around
every corner of the page, giving it structure and
making sure that the reader looks at every part of the
page. This colour is also used to repeat words such
as ‘mind blowing’ so to advertise to the reader that
this is a film they should go and watch.
The use of different sized and colour fonts are used
to give the poster variety and make sure it looks
interesting. Size is used to highlight the most
important pieces of information, such as the name of
the film and quotes from different people or places,
which is something I think will be effective for my
magazine front cover.
By using the model, which also happens to be the
main character, gives the reader a visual image of
the film, which will make them remember it for longer
and make them more likely to go and watch it.
The center line, used for advertising the film, I think
is used well, as the center is the first place a reader
would look. The use of the right and left hand third to
place other information about different things is not
as bold as the ‘Inception’ film, making the film the
most important thing on the page.
4. Depth of field
The use of this depth of field gives the poster a
slight 3D effect, which I think works well, and
shows that the feathers are falling.
Model
By using the main actor of the film to model
for the poster is another way to attract the
audience and to give them an image of the
film, making it more likely that they will
remember.
Font size
By putting the film name in a larger font than
anything else, it is one of the first things the reader
sees and remembers.
Red Hand
The colour red effectively gives the reader an
incite as to what sort of film it is going to be. It
works well with the contrasting colours black and
white, which highlights the colours more. By
placing the text and name of the film over the
top, when the reader sees the hand, they will also
see the film name and characters.
