With Application Engineered Storage, Oracle offers databases and applications that are storage-aware and storage systems that are database and application-aware. Oracle’s database is storage-aware and ensures the storage system is aware of the application requirements in advance of the request actually coming to the storage controller. With co-engineering between Oracle applications and Oracle storage systems, unique capabilities such as the Hybrid Columnar Compression, which compresses data up to 50x and accelerates query times, and the Oracle Intelligent Storage Protocol provide customers with significant efficiency and performance gains.
