1. 1. Hello.
2. 2. Before we start...
This slideshare is not innovative graphic design…
3. 3. Before we start...
This slideshare is not innovative graphic design…
But, the ideas presented here may be the start of innovative graphic design.
4. 4. Before we start...
This slideshare is not innovative graphic design…
But, the ideas presented here may be the start of innovative graphic design.
with your help.
5. 5. My name is
Michael Jones
6. 6. My name is
Michael Jones
I am a teacher
Who is passionate about…
7. 7. Improving education
Spreading my passion
Teacher Advocacy
Open Source Ideals
Life long learning
The Art of Teaching
The Science of Teaching
Sustainable Development
Empowerment
8. 8. So,
I’m starting a nonprofit this year that ties most of that together.
9. 9. Our Goal
Is to take the best practices in education and spread them to the most constrained circumstances.
10. 10. For Free!
11. 11. Open
(Source) lessons, guidebooks, program design, school floor plans, etc.
12. 12. Equal
Access to great education for all students regardless of location or resources.
13. 13. Free
Distribution and training
14. 14. Open
Equal
Free
15. 15. What does this have to do with you?
16. 16. What does this have to do with you?
We’re looking for great designers who are also passionate about education.
17. 17. What does this have to do with you?
We’re looking for great designers who are also passionate about education.
And who think the open source movement is
the bees knees.
18. 18. Because,
Like everything else we do, we want our logo to be based on collaborative innovation.
19. 19. The task,
Is to conceptualize the three words:
Open, Equal, and Free.
20. 20. The Challenge,
Is to conceptualize them in a way that can be changed by other graphic artists while still maintaining a recognizable “feel” to our logo.
So, over time, the imagery will change while still reflecting the iconic ideas:
Open Equal Free
21. 21. We Envision
Three boxes side by side that can be filled with icons representing the three ideas, preferably black and white. (we like the idea of a hand-drawn look as well)
Probably an open door, an equal sign, and a bird in flight. (The open door is a likely candidate for our central logo/avatar)
Other artists can then reconceptualize and redesign the three icons while still making our brand recognizable.
22. 22. But we’re not graphic designers…
Ug want pretty picture things.
23. 23. But we’re not graphic designers…
Ug want pretty picture things.
(Clearly)
24. 24. So, don’t be afraid to surprise us with a better idea!
25. 25. Our favorite vector
Will be chosen as our “core” logo.
But any good submission will later be included as we begin rotating our logos.
Don’t be afraid to go wild! If you favor self-expression over “winning” we love that and would love to use your logo later!
26. 26. $?
Nope.
Not only will you not get paid, but your idea can be downloaded and changed by other artists.
27. 27. Then Why?
To help us help the world.
To be part of an exciting graphic design project (as far as we know, the first of its kind).
If yours is chosen for the core logo, you’ll get a place of honor among our contributors.
28. 28. Send questions and submissions to...
Michael Jones
majbns80@gmail.com
29. 29. Also!
Check out our site.
www.openequalfree.org
As you can see, we’d love to meet a great web developer…
