Quote
“On May 31, 2018, the United States announced the imposition of tariffs on imports of certain steel and aluminum
products from Canada. In response to these measures, the Canadian government intends to impose surtaxes or similar
trade-restrictive countermeasures on an items of US originating products.
Further Tariffs on paper products, poly and a variety of finished goods could also be levied under this effect July 1st on
these imported into Canada from U.S. manufacturers
A tariff, simply put, is a tax levied on an imported good.
There are two types. A “unit” or specific tariff is a tax levied as a fixed charge for each unit of a good that is imported, for
instance; $300 per ton of imported steel. An “ad valorem” tariff is levied as a proportion of the value of imported goods.
An example is a 20 percent tariff on imported automobiles. Both tariffs act in similar ways.
These countermeasures will take effect on July 1, 2018 and are expected to remain in place until the U.S. eliminates its
trade-restrictive measures against Canada.
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2018. ALL ITEMS AFFECTED BY THE TARIFF AGREEMENT AGAINST THE USA ARE SUBJECT TO A 10%
FEE. THIS WILL BE ADDED AS A SEPARATE LINE ITEM.”
End Quote
The 10% that we will get does not automatically mean that An Extended full 10% WILL be added to your bill from One
Source Industrial Supplies. It will depend on each item and increase upon ordered items, so this will vary with
product to product. This may or may not come into effect, so that is why it is an additional line that may only be
temporary if put into to place. We may reduce our Coupons to compensate for this issue.
As always, your support, loyalty and continued collaboration are genuinely appreciated.
Sincerely,
One Source
