Point of sale (POS) is more than just an area to
process transactions. It’s an advantage to help
you improve profit. This is because POS displays
are well suited to showcase products,
promotions and deals. One of the most
effective POS displays are trade counter
displays as they save a lot of space,
which is ideal for merchants with a
lack a space. By placing products on
your trade counter, you’re encouraging
customers to make impulse buys. Not
only does this increase the sales of
a particular product, it can increase
overall spend too.
However, social distancing measures
have massively changed the in-store
experience for customers and they
are likely to spend less time browsing
at products they had no intention of
buying. Therefore, the perfect time
to entice customers is when they’re
committed to making a purchase.
While it might sound easy to throw a few
impulse items at the checkout, creating
a great POS display actually takes a
lot of forethought, planning, and an
eye for detail. With that said, we have
developed a range of ROYD counter
displays available to ensure our products
remain available to your customers. Including the
TRACER compact counter display unit containing the
Deep Hole Pencil, Double Tipped Marker Pen and
120mm Lead Set, along with our new SMART Blade Set
Are you looking for an effective way

display containing 30 of our excellent 8-Piece Blade

cutting blades with a quick release shank to suit almost
every multi-tool. Plus, we have a range of product
promotion stickers, window stickers, A3 posters
and outdoor vinyl banners to further increase brand
awareness and increase your sales.
We have invested heavily in developing
our brands to become well recognised,
with products that are self-explanatory
and have wide appeal. Using a
combination of industry leading counter
display units and a popular range of
products, our display units are the
perfect way to utilise your countertop

It’s important to keep counters fresh
with new products to achieve successful
countertop sales. So, be sure to freshen
up your trade counter with ROYD Tool
Group brands.

Fasteners are available in a range of shapes and sizes,
and one of the most common variations in screws is
the drive type. Knowing which drive type to choose can
be confusing, particularly when you grab a bit to find
you’ve picked the wrong one (we’ve all been there).
So, when it comes to choosing a drive type, is there
one that outweighs the other?
Two of the most commonly used screw head types
are Pozi and Torx. Both types offer similar cam-out
resistance benefits that make them more superior
compared to other commonly used head types. But
how do Pozi and Torx screws compare? To find out we
put our Optimaxx Pozi and Torx range to the test.
The Pozi drive was invented to further improve on the
torque and cam-out of the Phillips head by adding a
second cross to the head of the screw. Its eight-points
of contact greatly improved the ability to be used in
self-tapping applications which significantly increased
torque to drive the screw into the material.
Whilst Torx drive is far behind Pozi drive in terms of
popularity in the UK, it’s increasingly widely used in
Europe with the UK following on. Torx drive is popular
due to the profile offering much greater cam-out
resistance compared to Pozi head screws.
Its six-point star shaped point
of contact covers a larger surface
area compared to the Pozi drive.
Effectively, when you are turning
a Torx screw you are getting
a much higher surface area of
load transfer in six points around
the screw head. This allows for
a higher torque to be exerted on
the screws in comparison to other
commonly used head types. As
a result, this drives screws faster
and further into the material.
Written by Norman Shimwell
Account Manager
What is the difference
between Pozi and Torx drive?
In this challenge we attempted to drive Optimaxx wood
screws from the Pozi and Torx range into Iroko, one of
the hardest woods you will ever work with, to compare
the cam-out resistance between the two drive types.
In this experiment we purposefully drove the screws
into the material at an awkward angle to force the
screw to cam-out. Whilst we understand you should
always drive screws in straight, this was for experiment
purposes only to demonstrate the effectiveness of the
different drive types.
And the results… the Pozi screw forcefully cammed-out
much earlier than the Torx screw, resulting into the Torx
providing a much better grip and powering on through.
This test highlights the comparison of grip on both drive
types and how effective the Torx drive is in its ability to
reduce cam-out compared to the Pozi drive type.
