Modelling is the process of recreating excellence. Any skill, quality or trait you see you can do and become. You only need the tools to get there. There are behaviours and mindset that you have to consider before you get there. This simple worksheet will help you get there and identify the skills and traits you need to be successful and how to get them.

  1. 1. 1 | P a g e Mapping Excellence One of the key activities in generating success is the modelling of people who are recognised as exceling in fields of activity that generates remarkable results. What is it about them that makes the difference in their performance? When these differences have been identified they can be communicated to other people who can then learn to perform with a similar level of skill and excellence. Having said that, the person learning the skill must have the necessary aptitude and be willing to carry out the necessary self-development. In other words, whilst it is easy enough to model the activity of a world class sprinter, for example, a person who has a physical limitation is severely overweight or who refuses to commit to the dedicated effort of practice, is unlikely to be able to translate the modelled information into a personal skill. In this exercise simply list 6 traits, qualities or aptitudes that would allow you to become brilliant at your role. Then score your current competency in this area from 1 -10 (1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest level and the ultimate aim). Next, complete the others questions to truly evaluate the relevant importance, awareness and actions for making these qualities available and part of your new mapped awareness.
