  5. 5. ORCID IS OPT-IN • ORCID is an opt-in system • You own and control your record • ORCID record is portable and travels with you throughout your career 5

ORCID PRINCIPLES • Researchers may create, edit, and maintain an ORCID identifier and record free of charge. • Researchers may control the defined privacy settings of their own ORCID record data. • All data contributed to ORCID are available for free download (subject to the researchers' own privacy settings). • All software developed by ORCID are publicly released under an Open Source Software license. • https://orcid.org/about/what-is-orcid/principles
