  3. 3. Where did the idea of ORCID CA begin? ■ The “what if” seed was planted by the Canadian chapter of the Consortia Advancing Standards in Research Administration Information (CASRAI-CA) in late Spring 2016 with others quickly joining in the conversation ■ Research Data Canada (RDC), Canadian Resource Knowledge Network (CRKN), CASRAI-CA, Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) were among those orgs keen to help move the planning forward. 7. 7. ORCID CA vision ■ Strengthen the research ecosystem through the use of ORCID, “where all who participate in research, scholarship, and innovation are uniquely identified and connected to their contributions across disciplines, borders, and time.” (adopted from ORCID’s vision) ○ Increase research(er) productivity by minimizing administrative burden and reducing red tape ○ Allow for better and more accurate exchanges of information across research-related information systems ○ Enable accurate and comprehensive capture of information about researchers and their outputs, improving data quality ○ Create opportunities at national and international scale through coordinated implementation and integration. ○ Improve the research and scholarly communication landscape
