- The idea for OpenCourseWare came out of the Massachusetts institute for Technology (MIT), where a faculty committee that was charged in the year 200 by then-president Charles Vest with answering two questions:

Samples: JHSPH: Improve global public health OCW will help us improve public health by taking up-to-date public health education to the people who need it most: * doctors working in the field * public health officials * community organizers Utah State is a ‘land grant’ university. “ The mission of these institutions is to teach agriculture, military tactics, and the mechanic arts, not to the exclusion of classical studies, so that members of the working classes might obtain a practical college education” OCW will help us extend life-long learning opportunities to those who could not otherwise afford them, and will help us attract a wider range of students to the benefits of formal, post-secondary education. If your university has a thematic mission, you might consider starting with courses that emphasize that theme.
