GREATERLONDONAUTHORITY Case for joint procurement between cities and boroughs is strong… • Scale – reduce costs • Interoperability • Share market information • Common approaches to citizen concerns – health, ethics etc • Shared capacity – analytics, maintenance costs etc • Shift from pilots to widescale adoption • Standards can drive this

GREATERLONDONAUTHORITY Joint procurement is hard… • Risk aversion amongst leaders • Siloes, siloes, siloes • Short termism – the dreaded five year cycle • Unpicking the complexity – easier not to bother? • Understanding standards – how many officers actually use them? • Suppliers – divide and conquer • Initial joint procurement is hard – but it does get easier
