NMR News: Volume 2, Issue 7, October 2009 relating to FDA and FTC violations with dietary supplement companies over recent months, NMR primarily sought to share and reinforce their value in the industry as a scientific and clinical research company that can provide many services to help avoid unnecessary run-ins with the agencies. NMR's marketing coordinator, Latesha Richards, attended the show and said that "[NMR's] mission at NPEE was to let companies know that we are a niche clinical research organization in natural products and that we can provide valuable services including assisting companies crafting and substantiating claims that meet FDA requirements…I got a sense that companies were quite amazed to find out that a company like ours exists." Representatives of NMR walked the floor and met with company representatives face-to-face, to forge new relationships and maintain existing ones. They showcased capabilities in developing clinical trials, managing investigative sites, and writing medical white papers. "We can help companies support and substantiate their scientific and medical claims regarding their product. We provide up-to-date reviews of the scientific and medical literature, design and carry out clinical trials, and provide laboratory certification of ingredients in a product. We also prepare written reports that comply with rules, regulations and standards of governing agencies, scientific organizations and publishers," said Charlie Spielholz, Ph.D., of the capabilities that NMR provides. 2

"I think the article was an excellent way to educate or perhaps reinforce a good practice in the industry and leverage our solid grasp of the scientific and marketing issues we face in this industry - the issues discussed in the article are very timely," NMR's marketing coordinator pointed out.
