Task response and Coherence and Cohesion The common problems at band 6 are: • Not addressing all parts of the task equally (addresses all parts though some parts may be not fully covered than others) • Not making your position clear (position is clear throughout from band 7), and not making conclusions clear (the conclusions may be unclear or repetitive) • Not developing and explaining your main ideas (some may be inadequately developed or unclear)

KEY IDEA: If you don’t apply critical thinking to writing task 2, you will not achieve band 7. If you believe that you cannot afford to spend more time thinking and planning, then you need to be sure you can afford to keep retaking the test.
