  3. 3. The impact created by a country on other neighboring countries due to its geopolitical position is called Geo politics. This impact also affects the politics of the region as a whole. Geopolitics : GeoStrategic : Geo strategic means the importance of a country or a region as by virtue of its geographical location.

Towards north Tajikistan though no boarder but a narrow strip as Wahkhan strip separate the two. Towards east, Punjab-Rajasthan boarders which is 1650 km long Towards west, Afghanistan and Durand line of 2250 km. Towards south, Arabian and Indian sea. Coastal belt is about 700 km.
  5. 5. Natural Resources Of Pakistan : Pakistan has the best natural resources of the world. Lack of technology fragile infrastructure and limited financial resources are the main hurdles in the way to explore and utilize these resources.
  6. 6. By Napoleon: “The foreign policy of a country is determined by its geography’’. I will try to high-light the geographic factor in the light of following points like Size, Location, Natural resources & geopolitics.
  7. 7. Geographical Importance Of Pakistan: Location is perhaps more important than size. Location tends to make a state a landpower or a sea power. Pakistan has two of the largest countries of the world as its neighbours, china with a population of over one billion and India with nearly a billion.
  8. 8. Geopolitical Importance Of Pakistan Location on map: Pakistan is world’s ninth most populous country. It is situated in North West part of south Asian sub continent and lies between 24’ and 37 ‘north latitude and 67’ and 75’ east longitude. It is bounded on the east by India (1950 km) on north . North west by Afghanistan (1200 km)
  9. 9. ● On south west by Iran (800 km) ● On the south by Arabian Sea. ● It has also a common border on the north with China (600 km).Pakistan has a land of 769095 sq km, spread over a diverse terrain, comprising steep mountains and deep valleys, fertile plains of Indus valley and deserts in sindh and balochistan.
  10. 10. Size : The land area of a state in itself is an element of power. Size effects on the conduct of warfare, population and natural resources. Size also effects on national unity. It is important from administrative and cultural point of view. In this perspective Pakistan is ideal. Its size is greater than many developed countries like UK, France, Japan and its population is less than Japan Indonesia and Malaysia. In this regard, land of Pakistan is quite enough for its inhabitants for their use like residence , agriculture , forestry, industry and other facilities of infrastructure like dams roads and motorways.
  11. 11. … Relationship Of Pakistan With Different Countries ...
  12. 12. Relation of China with Pakistan: From the starting,China has a great relationship with Pakistan. Pakistan-China relations started in 1950. Strategic Alliance was formed in 1972 and economic co-operation began in 1979. China has invested $20 billion in various projects. Gulf-States possessing 63% of world’s oil reserves.
  13. 13. Relation of Afghanistan with Pakistan : Afghanistan is a land-lock country. Afghanistan is situated to the West of Pakistan. When the English got the control of sub-continent, according to a pact with Afghanistan in 1893, the permanent border between the two countries was marked which is called Durand Line. This line is about 2240 kilometers long with the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Both countries have old religious, cultural and trade terms. Afghanistan’s trade has been passing through Pakistan and has been regulated under 1965 Afghan Transit Trade Agreement .
  14. 14. Relation of Iran with Pakistan : To the West of Pakistan is the border of Iran along province of Balochistan. It is our Islamic brother country. Iran was the first country which recognized the existence of Pakistan in 1947. Iran has made political and trade pacts known as R.C.D. Its name is E.C.O which means Discipline for Economic Cooperation. Iran openly helped Pakistan during the wars of 1965 and 1971. Pakistan proves its friendship with Iran in every hour of need. It has also better relations with Pakistan.
  15. 15. Trade through Arabian Sea : Arabian Sea is in Indian Ocean. Most of the trade between east and west is done through Indian Ocean. Pakistan through Arabian Sea is linked with the Muslims Countries of Persian Gulf. All of them are rich in oil. In Karachi, Bin Qasim and Gwader are important seaports of Pakistan. In this respect South-East Asian Muslim countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Burunai, Darussalam) and South Asian Muslim countries (Bangladesh, Maldives and SriLanka) are important. So Pakistan has an important strategic position in the world.
  16. 16. Conclusion : Pakistan is a junction of south Asia, west Asia and central Asia; a way from resource efficient countries to resource deficient countries. The world is facing energy crises and terrorism. Pakistan is a route for transportation and a front line state against terrorism. Moreover Pakistan has been traditionally ally of emerging economic giant; china. So in the vague of any change in world politics, Pakistan’s geo-strategic significance would further be enhanced.
