A roof over our heads. Probably our number one priority since our decision to relocate to South Carolina, and I am already falling in love with the very first one I am looking at. A large, gabled house, with perfectly manicured gardens around it – the pictures of the interior show spacious rooms with arched doorways, windows exuding LOTS of sunlight. With an open floorplan, everything looks light and airy – summery. I still have my Christmas decorations up…

Can't we just live in a tent on the beach for a while

  1. 1. Hey, Mom? Can't We Just Live in a Tent on the Beach For a While? http://www.VickytheNorthernChicky.com “ Beautiful Home in a Beautiful Community.” I clicked on the Craigslist posting. “ HOLY MACARONI!!!” yelled my middle child, who was sitting next to me, as the pictures popped up, “Just LOOK at this house! I want it! Can we move in? Can we?” A roof over our heads.

  4. 4. I still have my Christmas decorations up… “ It’s on sticks!” my six-year old giggled. “ And it has a pool in the back AND the pool overlooks the OCEAN!” my oldest pointed out, “We can swim and there’s no sharks!”
  5. 5. “ Unless they get sucked up by the tornadoes and dumped there,” the six-year old mused, clearly remembering the YouTube video. “Hey, Mom? Can’t we just live in a tent on the beach for a while?” “ ABSOLUTELY NOT!!” (Where would I plug in Bob, my coffee maker??)
  6. 6. “ Unless they get sucked up by the tornadoes and dumped there,” the six-year old mused, clearly remembering the YouTube video. “Hey, Mom? Can’t we just live in a tent on the beach for a while?” “ ABSOLUTELY NOT!!” (Where would I plug in Bob, my coffee maker??) The disappointment on her face was evident, but her smile – minus her two upper front teeth – quickly returned. Apparently she had thought it over carefully, “You’re right, Mommy, ’cause then where would we plug in the Wii?”
  7. 7. Randi, my best friend who lives in Myrtle Beach, skyped and we talked about the houses down there. She is graciously volunteering to check out each and every place I am interested in…scout out the neighborhoods, etc. I still have no concrete date to leave New York yet – there’s a LOT of variables – but I am VERY proud and VERY excited to say that we are taking the first steps on this journey.
