Dr. Norman Weinzweig is extremely experienced in the entire gamut of hand surgery—from simple hand conditions treated in non-operative fashion to very complex multi-staged surgeries that require microsurgical expertise. He is highly regarded by his peers for his extraordinary clinical experience and expertise in the acute and chronic care of severely traumatized hands following devastating industrial accidents. For the past 25 years, Dr. Norman Weinzweig has been perfoming microvascular surgeries, replanting and revascularizing amputated digits and hands, treating mutilating injuries of the upper extremity, nerve injuries, and burns as well as repairing stiff functionless digits and hands due to severe scar contractures. Dr. Norman Weinzweig uses a multidisciplinary approach to treat these highly complex hand issues to produce superb clinical outcomes.
Dr. Norman Weinzweig is a nationally and internationally-recognized surgeon, educator, author and lecturer. He has contributed extensively to the fields of plastic surgery and hand surgery with 104 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 38 book chapters, 87 scientific abstracts, 5 educational videotapes, and over 250 regional, national and international presentations. Dr. Norman Weinzweig co-edited the 650-page textbook, THE MUTILATED HAND focusing solely on the acute management and post-traumatic reconstruction of devastating hand injuries. He has lectured around the globe including Taiwan, Turkey, Israel, Germany, Ireland, Canada, Hawaii and Mexico as well as served as Honored Visiting Professor. His specific areas of basic science and clinical research include reconstruction of the mutilated hand, limb transplantation, nerve regeneration, burns and wound healing.
