  3. 3. <ul><li>Kaspiysk is one of the youngest cities in Dagestan, it was founded during the first five year plans. And if the name of the city was given by a “Grey Caspiy “ the life of the city began with the construction of the plant “Dagdiesel”. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>The decision of building here the plant for producing sea weapons was taken at the proposal of Sergo Ordzhonikidze in 1931. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>More than 75 years ago at the distance of 18 kilometers from the capital of the republic Makhachkala in a narrow strip between the mountains and the sea there began the construction of a new plant and there was founded a new city. Workers from all the regions of the Former Soviet Union arrived here. A lot of mountaineers also arrived here to participate in the construction. The construction soon became nation-wide. Since that time the staff of the workers at the plant and the population of the city remains multinational. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>In 1940 the plant became the largest enterprise in the Northern Caucasus. More than 5 thousand workers worked here. Since the first days of the Great Patriotic war 1941-45, they began to produce here different kinds of aviation and deep sea bombs, antiaircraft shells, mines, mortars, submachine guns, etc. </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>The First post war years were very happy for the city. In 1947 it was transformed and got the status of the city. The workers settlement Dvigatelstroy got the name Kaspiysk. And in 1948 the plant got the name Dagdizel </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>The city became more beautiful with every passing year. The city was spreading to the mountains and in the direction of Makhachkala. </li></ul><ul><li>Many people thought that they would merge some day. One can see the Petersburg’s traditions in the appearance of the city. The streets were wide and straight and all the buildings faced the sea. </li></ul>
  9. 14. <ul><li>In the year 1960 a new plant, the plant of exact mechanics was built and began producing the navigation equipment. </li></ul><ul><li>There also began functioning the project bureau of the Nizhegorodskiy ship building plant “The Volga” in 1960, where the largest flying ships- ecranoplanes are built and tested. There are no analogues to them in the world . </li></ul>
  10. 17. <ul><li>Nowadays it is a modern well-built industrial town and can be called a satellite town of the capital of Dagestan. It is a clean and tidy town with ample greenery, broad streets and squares and new blocks of multistory houses. </li></ul><ul><li>There are 22 nursery schools, 11 secondary schools, 2 boarding schools, one orphanage, one gymnasium and one economical lyceum. </li></ul>
