IMMUNOLOGY
 This is an article on immunology. Immunology is a branch of biology in
which we study about our immune system, some cells (called
neutrophiles, lymphocytes, antigen presenting cells) and some chemicals
covered in immune system. Which evolved to protect from pathogens.
Such a kind of ability which protect our body called immunity.
 Vertebrates have two types of immunity; INNATE and ADAPTIVE.
Innate immunity ( not specific, present at birth) constitutes a first line of
defence which include BARRIER (which is always on e.g. skin, mucosa,
pH – gastric juice etc.)
 COMPLEMENT is type of innate immunity (is not always ready, when
antigen come then start function e.g. chemicals) and NEUTROPHILES
and ANTIGEN PRESENTING CELL (engulf cell and destroy them).
 Adaptive immunity responses exhibit four immunologic attributes
specificity, diversity, memory and self nonself recognition.
 Innate and adaptive immunity operate cooperatively activation of the
innate immune response produces signals that stimulate a subsequent
adaptive immune response.
 The high degree of specificity in adaptive immunity resides in molecules
(antibodies – protein molecule and T- cell receptors) that recognize and
bind specific antigens and kill them.
 In innate immunity, immune response is showed by sneezing, wheezing,
runny nose, watery eyes and other symptoms.
 Some time immune system shows high inflammation reaction in which
antibody of cells which protect our body from foreign particle recognise
own cell as self antigen and show immune response resulting harmful
effect shows in our body and some time even death.
 We learn immune system through Rh protein. Which is present at the
surface of RBC.
 A person has either Rh positive or Rh negative blood. If you receive
the opposite type of blood your body will create antibody that can
destroy the RBC when a pregnant women is Rh negative and her baby is
Rh positive the baby blood can get into her system and causes her to
make antibody. When the same women has a second baby with Rh
positive blood the antibody will destroy the red blood cell in the baby.
Rho (D) immune globulin is give to these women during pregnancy or
after delivery to prevent them from making antibody .
 So we can say that the study of immunology help to understand immune
system and also help in future research and diagnosis.
