How Did You Use Media Technologies In The

 1. 1. How did you use New media technologies in the planning construction research and evaluation stages
2. 2. Planning
We used Word Document and Microsoft Excel to create a timetable of free time that everyone in the group had together, this proved helpful in arranging set times to film and edit.
We used hotmail to email the owner of the song to gain permission to use the song, this provided an easy use of communication between us which proved extremely helpful.
3. 3. Research
In researching for our music video we used a digital camera and toured around Central London taking various location shots for potential settings such as Canary Wharf, Greenwhich and Knightsbridge.
We also used various sites and New Aggregators such as Google which enabled us to find information on the R&B and Grime genre.
We then used Youtube to watch and analyse various music video’s to notice conventions within them. For example on my blog I analysed an Alicia key’s music video titled ‘Like You’ll Never See Me Again’, taking screen shots and analyzing them in detail.
4. 4. Construction
Use of an easily portable camcorder allowed us to shoot scenes practically anywhere we chose
To edit the filmed shots we used IMovie which allowed us to edit and cut scenes, create match and jump cuts and also lay the music on top of the recorded footage.
It also allowed us to create different themes and moods for the audience for example IMovie allowed us to change a shot into black and white to enable to audience to recognise that this particular shot was a memoranda scene
5. 5. Evaluation
We used various sites such as Facebook and Youtube to gain audience feedback on what they thought of the music video. For example someone on Youtube who watched our music video was then able to blog their comments and views on what they thought about the video. ‘TheRealJRisky’ stated: “Clean and well constructed video. Aural and visual synchronicity is good”
Also using a handheld camcorder to record the footage of their exact thoughts. This allowed us to go back and watch the feedback and then possibly change any negative comments about the music video.
Using Excel to produce graphs of the questionnaire that we asked our audience also proved helpful in discovering trends in the feedback.
