The narrative is integrated in the performance basedsection of the video to reinforce the bands personality. The locations differusing a realistic music video set including the director’s chair and camera men,to a hotel room, then to a live performance set based purely around the bandand them playing.
Gym Class Heroes – Clothes offRap/rock band – This music video is performance based with integratednarrative throughout. The location of the video is a casino reinforcing the ideaof riches being a conventional theme of rap music.Panic! At the Disco – That Green GentlemanRock band. This video is mostly narrative based with an abstract journey withthe band using penny-farthing’s and row boats. There is performance basedmaterial e.g. when the band sit and sing in the row boat. The animation of this video strongly highlights the storyline of the musicvideo. This also evokes the comic sense of music video. “Weird Al” Yankovic intends here toexaggerate the norms of life to the point of getting a comedic response.“Weird Al” Yankovic – White and NerdyRap/Parody. White and Nerdy is a parody to the chart topping ‘Riding Dirty’ and intends tocontrast to the original until it reaches comedic value. The narrative follows a ‘nerd’ tryingto be a ‘gangster’ and being rejected at every point, whilst the performance features theartist in stereotypical gangster clothes.
