  6. 6. Tip: At night they try to pressure you into going to Hotel Zone with few opSons. The average club starts at 25 – $65. Everything is based on all you can drink which isn’t ideal for a light drinker. The cleaning and cooking staff is really a hit or miss, beier if you speak Spanish. The cook is very Sght with the food raSoning and isn’t too friendly unless you’re staying there more than four days. The food overall is a 5 out of 10. If you’re really on a budget it’s beier than eaSng nothing. The area has great dine-in, take out opSons, as well as shops to purchase groceries. 6

  9. 9. Isla Mejueres / Beach Day I took my Sme and headed toward the R1 Bus to El Embarcadero = about $(0.50 MXN) 9:00 AM Leave Hostel Walk to Ultramar Ferry Dock Once you arrive on the island you must pass through the terminal to actually hit the streets. Start early so you can do the whole Island. Head North to Playa Norte first. Get food, shop then, head back South and walk for 90 mins to Punta Sur. Get to Punta Sur by 4:45 PM. Punta Sur is absolutely free a[er 5PM. Explore the ruins and catch the Sunset on the Southern part of the Island. Taxi it back to ferry or walk. Ultramar 9
  10. 10. Playa Del Carmen 9:00 AM Leave and head to ADO Bus Terminal Ride for about an hour 15 mins. to Playa Del Carmen At bus staSon, look for white collecSvo shuiles across street. It should say Playa – Cancun. Or just ask any person on line. Make sure you get on correct line. It should be 30 – 40 Pesos (MXN) you arrive Calle 2 (2nd st) **ColecSvos $ are very convenient and a cheap way to get around, you can save big money on transportaSon to some of the popular desSnaSons. There are 2 opSons collecSvo or Playa express Or you can take an ADO bus $$ The ADO bus staSon is located on 20th ave and 12 street in Playa Playa Express leaves you 1-2 blocks over from regular collecSvo. *When returning you may not have Playa opSon 10
  11. 11. You can see van busses are near each other. Vans, Playa Exp, & CollecSvo I think last bus back to Cancun is at 11 pm. I would check with vans when I arrive in Playa to make sure. Always ask driver direcSon. You should be back in Cancun by midnight if you stay late. If you’re looking for cheap food do research before. 11
  12. 12. Tulum (1-2) days 9:00 AM Leave head to ADO Bus Terminal Do everything from Page 9. Once at Playa. Look for a second collecSvo on same street that says Playa – Tulum. This van should take another hour. Also use the Playa Sme for the bathroom. $35 Pesos (MXN) one way. Once at the Bus StaSon in Tulum a good place to rest is across the street at the ice cream shop names “Flor De Michoacan”. They have fresh coconuts, bathrooms, and garden seaSng in the rear. You will noSce the atmosphere is very relaxed bikes are quite popular. So there are many bike rentals. Tour the ruins in about an 1-2 hours with a guide. You see more architecture from the beach. If you have a towel, enjoy their beach below the ruins. If you walk down the beach, hang out at one of the beach clubs. Maybe you will want to go into Tulum City (Pueblo) and eat at their many restaurants. ColecSvos run unSl about 11PM. With Tulum it depends on what you want to see. If you want to see all 3 main areas depending on how you pace yourselves, it may take 1-2 days. TIP: One of the best public beaches to go to is Playa Paraiso. 12
  13. 13. Tulum (1-2) days Hotel Zone Road Along the “hotel zone” you will find rusSc hotels and bohemian chic retreats that are Hollywood star hangouts. It has some of the nicest beaches. It’s a bit pricey, the days of a beach shack with a hammock are gone. A car gives beier access to downtown for restaurants or the grocery store. Taking taxis is the next best opSon. Get great tacos here: Taqueria La Eufemia, right on the beach. Tip: Restaurants along the highway tend to be more expensive. If you want to get something a liile more interesSng, try a side street. Entrance to the ruins is 70 pesos. There are also bathrooms located here. To get back to Cancun take CollecSvo to Playa and back up to Cancun 13
