  2. 2. MACBA MUSEUM The Barcelona Museum of  Contemporary Art was designed by Richard Meier & Partners (1987-1995). The building’s architectural style has references to Modernism. This large (120 by 35 meters) white building and have a wall of glazed providing the visitor views across the plaza, and allowing natural light into the inside. It includes a La Central library, specialized in art books and publications. The museum opened to the public on 28 November 1995. Another contemporary art museum,  Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), is next to MACBA

  4. 4. ARCHITECT Richard Meier was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1934.  Richard Meier graduated from Cornell University in 1957. He worked with a series of architects, including Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill and Marcel Breuer. Selected Awards: 1984: Pritzker Architecture Prize 1989: Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects 1997: American Institute of Architects Gold Medal Numerous national AIA Honor Awards and New York AIA Design Awards
