Magnitude of the Problem • Annual burns incidence in India is 6-7 mil • Majority of the extensively burnt patients die • Nearly 1.5 lakh get crippled, require multiple surgeries and prolonged rehabilitation • 70% are in the productive age of 15-40 yrs • 90% belong to poor socio-economic strata • 1 burn patient require skin from 2 donors 2000 SKIN DONATIONS • We only get 200 per year!! • Need Dr. Sunil Keswani, National Burns Centre, www.burns-india.com, nbcairoli@gmail.com
