You probably know by now that #FastFashion is not good for our planet. The resources it requires is putting extra pressure on our #environment and people, in a negative way, while big corporations are only interested in making more profit for themselves by squeezing tight the cost of production, mainly in the form of wages and raw materials, and avoidance of #compliance.

So how do we counter this disastrous economic model? By going slow. Take action and challenge yourself. Adopt the Slow Fashion lifestyle -- it's never too late to be part of the solution, together, creating multiplying positive impacts.

  3. 3. HISTORY OF CLOTHES ➤ The early humans used clothes: ➤ to protect themselves from the cold (mainly fur coat) ➤ to compensate for hair loss (they used to be hairier) ➤ to add-on to religious or spiritual traditions — afterwards, clothes became symbolic

  7. 7. EVERYDAY CLOTHES Recently, we wear clothes: ➤ to show off wealth ➤ to reflect personal style and aesthetics
  8. 8. WHAT IS FASHION? ➤ Do you know what fashion is? ➤ Definition: “a popular style in clothing, footwear, lifestyle, accessories, makeup, hairstyle and body.” ➤ Who decides? ➤ Once upon a time, there was structure. ➤ Fashion week - twice a year. ➤ What about now?

  11. 11. THE RISE OF FAST FASHION ➤ Fast fashion says we have ‘trends’ to follow every week. Mass production. Consume more. Cheap clothes. Copies styles from runways in record-time. ➤ Bad for the environment. ➤ Bad for the workers and women and girls. ➤ Bad for our ethics. ➤ Bad for our future.

WOULD YOU WORK IN A T-SHIRT FACTORY? ➤ You work 14-16 hours a day, six days a week, income RM133 per month. ➤ Unsafe buildings, health and safety hazards. ➤ Cramped conditions, repetitive work. ➤ You can lose your job when you’re pregnant. ➤ You may not be covered by international labour laws.
  15. 15. WHAT IS SLOW FASHION? ➤ The OPPOSITE of Fast Fashion ➤ Emphasis on: ➤ Quality, not quantity. ➤ Consuming less. Buy only what you need. Intentional purchasing. ➤ Repairing and mending to make clothes last. ➤ Turning something old or rejects into new things, avoiding waste to landfill. ➤ Personal style to reflect YOU :-)
