Closing the Loop: Completing the Design/Analysis > Fabrication > Validation CycleCLOSING THE LOOP PROJECT: To design & fabricate a prototype for a sunscreen over a proposed new glass facade for the Environmental Building on campus that came about from climate analysis of the structure/site. GOALS: To harness the potential from the advances and profusion of software development for synchronous sharing between disciplines and iteratively throughout the design process. Beyond teaching the technical skills of computational design, like scripting and parametrics, this process will also instill a sensibility of how to begin an adaptive, intelligent digital model that will be efficient for downstream interoperability, moving from parametric modelers to BIM families, to energy analyses, and on to direct fabrication. WHO: Four classes and four departments, and three industry advisors.
