INTRODUCTION  Uttarakhand is located in the foothills of the Himalayan mountain range.  The state shares borders with China (Tibet) in the north, Nepal in the east, and inter-state boundaries with Himachal Pradesh in the west and northwest and Uttar Pradesh in the south.  It has almost all agro-geo climatic zones, which provide commercial opportunities for floriculture and horticulture.  The state is home to more than 175 species of rare medicinal, aromatic & herbal plants.  Uttarakhand has abundant natural resources due to hills and forests. Its agro-climatic conditions support horticulture-based industries.  The presence of several hill stations, wildlife parks, pilgrimage places and trekking routes make Uttarakhand an attractive tourist destination.  Under the State’s Vision 2030, the processing capacity of horticulture produce will be enhanced from 7.5% to 15% of the total horticulture production by 2030.

  6. 6. Methodology  SAMPLING PROCEDURE A sample of households will be taken from the Population of the Selected Study sites by using Stratified Random Sampling. This technique is chosen in order to ensure that the final sample accurately reflects the demographics of the population as a whole.  SAMPLE SIZE It is important to stratify the population when taking a sample, to ensure that the sample is representative of the population. therefore, a random sample of 10% will be taken from the population. This will ensure that the sample is representative of the population and will allow for accurate findings.  SAMPLING BASE Census 2011 will be the base to choose sample households from the selected sites.  DATA COLLECTION METHOD The Study will be carried out on the basis of Primary Data.
  7. 7. Methodology  Tools and techniques of data collection A pre-tested structured interview schedule will be prepared. Data will be collected by personal interview method. Questionnaire surveys will be administered in face-to-face interviews with villagers at a household level and Village level

Analysis and Results  DATA ENTRY- The filled-out forms will be entered into Microsoft Excel in order to prepare them for analysis.  DATA ANALYSIS- Microsoft Excel will then be used to analyze the data and the results will be drafted in the form of a report using charts and tables.  REPROT WRITING- This will allow for a more accurate and thorough understanding of the data that has been collected.
