PFD KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
In addition to the 40+ years of experience with flotation device testing, UL:
• Has 18 staff, including 1 in Canada and 1 in the United Kingdom.
• Has the PFD center of excellence for North American and European testing in North
Carolina.

completed several UL 12402-5 projects this year.
Conversions require a gap analysis.
The STP is working on the marking and labeling sections of the Standard.

HOW TO HELP WITH UL12402-5 CONVERSIONS
• Provide BOM early in the process, with the samples or before the samples are
submitted
• Ensure current Material ID Sections are accurate
• Update illustrations
• Provide draft markings and placards as early as possible in the process
