My Definition
At the direction of the site principal, I will provide support to the principal and teaching
staff in the implementation of Common Core Standards. I will also apply strategies in
direct instruction, with technology as a means support efficacious practices. Also,
ensuring that all children are challenged to meet high personal goals with rigorous
applications to problem solving.
Examples of My Essential Functions
Curriculum
 Assist the principal with the coordination and and implementation of instructional
initiatives such as California Common Core Standards, school wide reading and
writing programs, assessment reporting and curriculum design.
Instruction
 Provide teachers with articulated lesson planning that provides instruction and
assessments.
 Common Formative Assessments that can help teams collaborate and create
action plans to help struggling, on grade level, and students who have mastery in
subject areas.
 Use data to help teachers plan whole group and small group instruction. (Cotsen
reflection and planning guide template)
 Use data from instructional planning that facilitates quality assessments, as well
as identifying areas of strength.
 Help teachers develop and implement classroom-based, developmentally
appropriate interventions for individual students and groups of children.
 Support learners in academics as well as social or emotional needs.
 Support teachers in documenting and collaborating next steps for student
progress.
 Assist the principal with Student Study Team process and collaborate with
teachers as to interventions that can be monitored within a six week period of
time.
 Provide demonstration lessons for effective classroom instruction and access to
content (The use of technology to support lessons and instructional practices).
 Assist with the planning and facilitation of planning time, grade level time and
staff meetings.
 Staying current and informed of exemplary instructional strategies and current
research to specific teacher inquiry.
Professional Development
 Assist with the scheduling and delivery of site based TK-6th professional
development aligned with the R.U.S.D. board adopted curriculum and
instructional materials.
 Help teachers and instructional staff to create positive classroom environments
that promote perseverance and collaboration.
 Support teachers in the new shifts of Language Development, as well evaluating
strengths and areas to improve on. This will support growth in vocabulary
development in all subject areas as well as the C.E.L.D.T. testing and the
analysis of data.
 Support the use of the Wiki in the area of math, as well as the implementation of
Math inquiries, ideas from C.G.I. Math, Pictorial Math, Eureka Math and
Houghton Mifflin math (was on the pilot team for our current math adoption).
 Visit classroom to support teachers in the use of research-based instructional
strategies to strengthen the quality of the instructional programs.
 Support teachers in developing and implementing second level interventions.
 Use data to help teachers identify and group children who need additional
support.
 Respect confidentiality with teachers and use our time to support and enhance
lesson planning and reflecting on best practices.
 Attending the Summer Workshop at Telesis to create and align standards with
common formative assessments.
 Assist the principal with School Site Council, creating the SIPSA Report as well
as attending the District English Learner Advisory Committee, (DELAC)
meetings.
Site Support
 Work with the principal and staff to create learning environments where all
students, a positive experience at school. This will also support student with
limited English skills, as well as meeting grade level benchmarks.
 Consult with school staff, parents and community members for the purpose of
improving the quality of student outcomes through planning core curriculum for
all children (universal access).
 Plan for instructional accommodations, modifications and develop solutions for
students who are apprehensive about school.
 Use instructional and behavior assessments and support tools for students
(worked with TBS workers with students in foster care).
 Meet regularly with the principal to review student assessment data, and
progress toward grade level goals.
Knowledge, Abilities and Experience
 Attend Cotsen, Art of Teaching Reading and Writing Seminars
 Attended Professional Learning Community (P.L.C.) best practices in Las Vegas,
last summer and San Jose this July.
 Collaboration with teams and Dr. Cruz who challenges teams to rely on one
another for the qualities that each professional brings to his or her teaching style.
 Attended both fourth and fifth grade trainings this year (combo class).
 Work with the Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies (P.B.I.S.) system and
was a part of the progress monitoring for two students.
