  2. 2. CanadaHelps is a non-profit social enterprise serving charities and donors. CanadaHelps is a charity that helps charities. We ensure all Canadian charities – most notably the smallest ones that need it the most – have access to the online fundraising tools, technology, and education they need to succeed. Because we’re a charity, our fees are a fraction of those of the for-profit alternatives. For donors, we offer a one-stop shop for supporting any registered Canadian charity online. CanadaHelps makes giving easy. Easily explore and discover new causes. Give once or monthly, donate securities, or increase your impact fundraising for charity. Enjoy instant or anytime access to all your charitable tax receipts. At a glance: Trusted for over 14 years, almost 16,000 charities rely on our non-commercial online fundraising platform and nearly 1 million Canadians have given using CanadaHelps. We have a spotless record for safe and secure payment processing and instant tax receipting and operate on less than 1.8% of donation revenues.

  4. 4. What is Peer-to-Peer Social Fundraising? • Social fundraising where your supporters fundraise by engaging with each other, their friends, families and networks. • Could involve a walk-a-thon, run-a-thon, swim-a-thon, or some other “thon” event. • Could involve fundraising teams and or individual participants. • Often some friendly competition is involved. • 64% of Millennials (born 1980-2000) prefer to fundraise through walk/run/cycling events.* *The 2013 Millennial Impact Report @CharityLifeCA #P2Pfundraising
  5. 5. Setting Your Fundraising Goal: A Rule of Thumb Strive to secure 30% of your total goal within the first 48 hours of your campaign launch. If you don’t think you raise 30% of your total goal in the first two days, set a more realistic goal. The first 48 hours are critical for getting the momentum going! @CharityLifeCA #P2Pfundraising
  6. 6. According to the 2015 Millennial Impact Report, 46% of Millennial employees said they were more likely to donate to a cause if a peer worker asks them to. @CharityLifeCA #P2Pfundraising
  7. 7. @CharityLifeCA #P2Pfundraising The Do’s of Using a Call-to-Action Make it prominent and easy to spot. Have white space around it and place it in a button if it’s the primary action you want them to perform, but don’t clutter your communication with buttons. Use links instead of buttons when it’s a non-crucial action. Focus on only one call-to-action per email or communication. Use clear language that is persuasive and compelling. Use command verbs. Link directly to the page where you want them to perform the task. Clearly explain the benefits of completing the action in the content that’s directly related to the button or link.
  8. 8. @CharityLifeCA #P2Pfundraising Budget is an extremely important consideration! Before choosing your event type, consider costs like: Location/venue costs Insurance Safety Food and drinks Sound system Marketing and promotions Permits Portable toilets Comfort items like tables and chairs T-shirts, hats, race numbers, etc.
  9. 9.
