With all the ways to get information today – 24-hour news, streaming video, RSS feeds, social media feeds, “tweets”, e-newsletters, email updates, blogs – are you feeling a bit overwhelmed? Staying current and up-to-date on the issues that affect your day-to-day work is important for you and your organization. This workshop will explore the ways to keep on top of it all and provide you with tips on how to track your organization’s online reputation. We’ll specifically look at what RSS and other social media feeds are and how you can and should use them.

  • Nice job Marco. Keep up the great work. I've being looking for ways to capture the theme of working wise with web 2.0 and you are one of the few who get into this area. It's a must have with the multitude of choices and that alone often freezes people from these tools.

  • We live in a world of information overload : 24 hour news, streaming video, RSS feeds, social media feeds and "tweets", eNewsletters, email updates, constantly updated websites and web services...   You're busy enough just trying to serve your clients.   But, staying current and updated is important for you and for your clients/stakeholders/donors. Why visit a website or web service to find out what's new if you can have it sent directly to you? Many websites offer ways to subscribe so you know when new information has been added.  In some cases, as soon as they add something, you'll know.  This can save time for you and ensure that you have access to the latest and newest information you need.  What if an important site doesn't offer easy ways to notify you of updates and new content?  And what if the information you need or the discussions you follow aren't even on a website? This workshop will introduce you to ways to keep on top of information that is important to you and to track how your organization's online reputation is evolving. We'll look at what RSS and other social media feeds are and how can you can/should use them.  But, we will also show you how to harness Email to stay as updated as you want/need to be and even create a personalized news service. Yes, you should understand what [cool new tool] is and how you can use it.  But, let's be honest - Email is still the killer app for many of us.  We know email, we use it all the time.  Maybe you don't want to learn how to use yet another technology?  That's OK - you can integrate many of the new social media tools into your day, and still use Email as your primary information tool.  Come to learn how.
