Eight years later, Sony opened a branch in the United Kingdom. The company continued to grow in the 1970s, when it expanded into Spain and France in 1973. German operations were started in 1986.

 4. 4. Here are some examples of Sony’s synergy with other companies.
 5. 5. FIFA

FIFA is the international governing body of football. They are responsible for the organization and governance of football's major international tournaments, most importantly the FIFA World Cup, held since 1930. FIFA's Sponsors include CocaCola, Emirates, Hyundai, Sony, VISA, Adidas.

 6. 6. Sony Corp. signed its first global sponsorship deal as FIFA's partner from 2007-2014. One of the biggest wins out of this deal is that Sony will broadcast up to 25 matches of next year s World Cup soccer tournament in 3D. THe deal utilizes Sony's 3D technologies and will make 3D World Cup action available to viewers for the first time. Sony agreed to this deal as this utilizes Sony's 3D technologies and premier products to show dazzling content which produces a unique and totally compelling viewing experience. In turn, FIFA benefits through this as it propels the football fan into a whole new viewing dimension and marks the dawning of a new era in the broadcasting of sport. 'We are proud that the FIFA World Cup can serve as a platform for advancing technology and the viewing experience, and are truly fortunate to have Sony as a partner in this endeavour.' says FIFA secretary, Valcke.
 7. 7. Sony Corp. signs its first global sponsorship deal as FIFA Partner

"Sony, like FIFA, enjoys tremendous brand awareness and is therefore another perfect partner to support us in our mission to develop and broaden the worldwide appeal of football even further."

"This partnership is an ideal one as it benefits both sides from the point of view of branding," said Sony Group CEO Idei. "FIFA has a spectacular reach around the world through the universal language of football and it is this unique attribute that convinced us to commit to this global sponsorship deal. This is an ideal opportunity for us to leverage the powerful assets of the Sony Group in electronics, entertainment and technology."

This collaboration allows Sony to further develop the trend towards convergence of digital devices: creating ideal opportunities of synergy between FIFA and Sony thus enhancing Sony Corp’s content businesses, such as it’s music and television properties. Sony will also advise FIFA in the technical development of TV and broadcast equipment for future FIFA Events.

 8. 8. Sony teams with FOX Sports to simulcast live 3D coverage of FEDEX BCS Championship game

Sports broadcasts are ideal for 3D presentation, especially in a theater, where fans can gather and participate in the atmosphere of the event with the feeling of truly being there,” said Sandy Climan, CEO of 3ality Digital.

“ The live broadcast to the Paris Hotel and to movie theaters across the nation is the latest example of how we can deliver our programming to audiences in new and exciting ways,” said Jerry Steinberg, senior vice president of field operations and engineering for FOX Sports. “3D technology holds unlimited potential for the future of both sports broadcasting and live event production.”

 9. 9. FOX

Fox is a broadcasting company which is owned by fox entertainment group. It is also part of Rupert Murdoch's New's Coporation, so he owns Fox. It has subsidiaries such as Fox Kids, Fox News, Fox Sports, Fox Asia, 20th Century Fox and more.

Sony and Fox made a content deal with each other, which benefits both of them because they both help each other as Sony helps Fox to gain more viewers through 3D technology which means more advertisements of Sony are being viewed more which also means more profits.
