CURRENT PROJECTS • • Unit 3: Portraiture    Tools you should be using:          Custom paint brush to paint colors Layers – use multiple layers for each area of the painting (foreground, midground, background) Change opacities of the brush and use the ALT (eyedropper) to sample colors as your paint Use burn and dodge to lighten and darken areas of the painting Use blending modes (multiply, screen, overlay) for effects and adjustments of shading Use filters (sketch, color pencil, chrome etc.) Use the smudge tool to blend      Uses the above tools Shows a strong light source All colors are blended and show range (dark to mid to light) Textures and details enhance the image Objects show proportion and scale Overall impression of peers Professional quality concept art (could be used in a video game, movie or other commercial project) learning target: Basic Illustrator tools (pen tool, shape tool, line, color selector) Gradients and gradient meshes 3D tools Transform tools Pathfinder tools Clipping masks Multiple layers of color and highlights Dropshadows and blurs Outerglows, bevels, and other effects Tools you should be using in Photoshop         Tools you should be using in Illustrator:         Use scanners or digital cameras when available Use the pen tablet when available Use the mouse Quality Check (to earn an A+) Complete a promotional poster to enter Design Fest 2014  Peripheral Devices     Unit 3: Post Project Completely rendered portrait completed in classicismstyle (photorealism) Custom brushes and color schemes Advanced adjustment layers Layer blending modes Filters and layer effects Quality Check (to earn an A+)         Balance between originality and simplicity Strong visual representation of the company Strong verbal representation of the company Clever, but not too clever Strong use of in-class time Professional looking – confident a client would purchase the logo Reviewed and reflected – made adjustments and tried different versions Overall impression of peers know the language of the arts, create using techniques and methods, and review socio-cultural contexts
