In this presentation, Vineet introduces the concept of SMAC and associated trends. Vineet's interest lies in data security on cloud storage through encryption/decryption techniques.
2. SMAC is the new flavour of IT services companies. SMAC
creates an ecosystem that allows a business to improve its
operations and get closer to the customer with minimal
overhead and maximum reach. The proliferation of
structured and unstructured data that is being created by
mobile devices, sensors, social media, loyalty card
programs and website browsing is creating new business
models built upon customer-generated data. None of the
four technologies can be an afterthought because it's the
synergy created by social, mobile, analytics and cloud
working together that creates a competitive advantage.
3. Social media has provided businesses with new ways to reach
and interact with customers, while mobile technologies have
changed the way people communicate, shop and
work. Analytics allow businesses to understand how, when and
where people consume certain goods and services and cloud
computing provides a new way to access technology and the
data a business needs to quickly respond to changing markets
and solve business problems. While each of the four
technologies can impact a business individually, their
convergence is proving to be a disruptive force that is creating
entirely new business models for service providers.
4. The disruptive trends of social, mobile, analytics and cloud,
often termed “SMAC” or the “Nexus of Forces”, are well-
recognized as essential elements of next generation IT
applications. They represent a desirable, future end-state
for IT applications and architectures due to their
characteristics of collaborative functionality, ubiquitous
access, and intelligent insights, all delivered via a flexible
and scalable delivery model.
Some quick examples would include mobile apps delivered
and supported via the cloud, big data analytics performed
in the cloud and executed against social sentiment data and
cybersecurity data, and social business apps delivered to
knowledge workers via their mobile devices.
5. Inthe upcoming years, these three market forces are all macro-level changes
that will impact how IT supports, enables, and transforms the business in the
years ahead as part of this fifth wave of corporate IT. There will be digital services
that are purchased within line-of-business areas and digital services that IT will
continue to provide to the entire organization. IT departments will need to master
the development and deployment of SMAC-enabled applications and
infrastructures with attention to three key areas: developing core skills around
supporting the new work style of their customers and employees, understanding
how to assess business processes for transformation via SMAC technologies, and,
finally, addressing the upcoming information inflection point. They will
accomplish this last objective not only by dealing with the sheer scale and velocity
of their data streams, but by focusing on machine-learning capabilities and
intelligent analytics to make smart decisions related to this information in
addition to routine processing.
6. I would like to go for Cloud services because Cloud
service providers have plenty of encryption, data
division, and other security measures in place. Just
as you protect your internal infrastructure, cloud
vendors must safeguard their equipment to stay in
business.
Just by Linking systems of records with next-
generation systems of engagement.
I would like to work in encrypting and protecting
sensitive information, stored or on the move, cloud
or on-premise.
