9. Chemical test
The standard specifies requirements and test methods for the migration of the Toxic elements.
It is to determine the presence of toxic elements in the material of the toy and if it exceeds the
permissible limit as stated in the standard which may pose health hazards to children.

10. Flammability test
The standard specifies the categories of flammable materials which are prohibited in all
toys, and requirements concerning flammability of certain toys when they are subjected to
a small source of ignition. It is intended to reduce burn injuries associated with children
being in intimate contact with certain types of toys.
The standard focuses on the following toys which are considered as being those presenting
the greatest hazards wherein the test method based either on the rate of spread of flame or
duration of flaming :

b. Toy disguise costumes and toys intended to be worn by a child in play
c. Toys intended to be entered by a child
d. Soft-filled toys

11. Physical and Mechanical Test
The standard aims to determine and investigate the possible hazards during
foreseeable use and abuse tests on toys which are not evident to the users.

Motabaqah Toy Testing laboratory is an independent laboratory
established to ensure that toys imported to Saudi Arabia meet
local safety requirements and aims to assist manufacturers/

requirements pertaining to physical/mechanical, flammability and
chemical testing. It is the only Toy Testing Laboratory in Saudi
Arabia capable of providing a global standard of service on safety
requirements of toy that includes SASO, GSO EN 71, EN
71 and ASTM standards. Our laboratory is ISO 17025
accredited by Saudi Accreditation Committee (SAC) .
