2. 3.

Large-scale study, conducted by the Dutch Ministry of transport that involved 2,400 lorries from 123 companies .

Mobileye Collision Prevention Systems featuring Forward Collision, Lane Departure and Headway Monitoring were used for the study.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) Systems helps prevent unintended lane breaches, proving that the LDW functionally is effective .

Forward Collision Systems (FCW) issues a warning at a Time To Contact between 2.5 and 4.2 seconds, depending on the approaching speed, giving enough time for the driver to react .

FCW and Headway Monitoring (HM) Systems have a positive effect on safety.

FCW, LDW, & HM systems increase driver’s alertness on the road while decreasing the probability of a collision on the road.

 3. 4.

25,000 people per year are killed in the USA when their vehicles veered from the lane - almost 60 percent of all crashes

A lane-departure fatality occurs every 21 minutes .

Lane Departure technology, is around 32% percent effective in preventing road departure crashes.

4. Nearly 4 out of every 10 fatal motor vehicle crashes - over 16,000 a year-

involve a single vehicle leaving its lane and/or the road.

5. Economic cost of crashes per year are estimated to be $820 for every person living in the United States .

 4. 5.

93% of all accidents are due to human error, driver inattention being the primary cause.

2. In the USA Text messaging or e-mailing with a cell phone while operating a vehicle, are considered two of the most serious types of distraction, increasing the risk of a crash or incident by 23 times.

3. A person dies in a car crash every 12 minutes in the USA - that's approximately 123 deaths per day.

4. Distracted driving accounts for 6,000 fatalities a year in the USA.

5. Over 43,000 people per year are killed in crashes in the USA.

6. Financial costs of car crashes in the USA are more than $230 billion dollars per year.

 5. 6.

A study by Daimler Benz shows that an extra 0.5 second early warning can prevent 60% of rear-end accidents, and 1.5 seconds will prevent 90% of them .

85% reduction in accidents was achieved using FCW and ACC systems Tested in 8 vehicle fleets (1,900 vehicles) over 3 years.

FCW systems in fleets have shown empirical success in reducing:

All collisions by 73%

Fixed-object crashes by 81%

Rear-End accidents (in one fleet) by 100%

4. Mobileye systems provide a Forward Collision Warning to the driver 2.7 seconds on average before colliding with the vehicle ahead. The average driver takes 0.66 seconds to press the brakes.

5. On average, the Mobileye systems enable the driver a critical 2 seconds of actual braking!

 6. 7.

Maverick Transportation reported a 65% decrease in all lane-departure related crashes using vision-based LDW systems in its trucks . Tested on 1000 trucks driving 110 million miles over 2 years.

Mobileye provides an intelligent Lane Departure Warning that anticipates an unintentional crossing of a lane in 0.5 seconds, thus providing the driver longer time to respond.

Drivers tend to overestimate their driving distance between them and the car ahead and consequently drive with short and potentially dangerous headways.

Research has shown that drivers have difficulty in estimating safe headway. Mobileye’s Headway Monitoring assists the driver in keeping a safe driving distance from the vehicle in front, reducing a priori the chances of a rear-end collision.

 7. 8.

Conducted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in the USA.

Study conducted on Trucks and Motor Carries between 2001-2005.

18,013 rear-end crashes could be prevented through use of Forward Collision Warning Systems (FCWS)

Property Damage Only (PDO) rear-end crash would cost $122,650, an injury would cost $239,063, and a fatal crash would cost $1,056,221. These avoided costs or potential benefits of the FCWS were based on a typical or median-cost incident.

8120 crashes caused by a lane departure could be prevented though the use of Lane Departure Warning Systems.

PDO crashes range in cost from $100,150–$196,958; injury crashes are in the range of $135,096–$455,936; and fatal crashes are in the range of $885,150–$1,252,872. These avoided costs or potential benefits of the LDWS were based on a typical or average incident.

 8. 9.

Forward collision accidents are most often low speed accidents.

If drivers would react 0.5s earlier before a collision, more than 60% of the collisions could be prevented.

3. Most often the cause of such accidents is inattention.

4. The potential in saving costs from car collisions exists though differs from country to country.

 9. 10.

Intelligent Transport Systems make traffic safer.

2. Lane keeping performance is clearly improved by lane departure warnings .

3. Lane Departure warning can contribute to a 60% reduction in the number of side collisions.

4. Study by Mercedes Benz conducted on 200 drivers showed that 93% of rear-end crashes were prevented thanks to Forward Collision Warning installed in the cars.

5. Forward Collision Systems are considered to be safety enhancing and effective in prevention collisions and helping drivers in keeping more headway between vehicles .

6. The potential in saving costs from car collisions exists though differs from country to country.

 10. 11.

1. TNO Report findings prove the effectiveness of the Mobileye systems.

2. Cost/Benefit Analysis prove that by using Driver Assistance Systems a huge sum of money can be saved.

3. If people would have enough time to react, a big number of collisions could be prevented.

4. The Mobileye Effectiveness Report shows that DAS Systems increase driver attention in the following road scenarios:

Unintended lane departure.

Forward collision.

Insufficient distance keeping.

5. Mobileye systems are a cost-effective product for collision prevention and mitigation, aiming to improve the quality of life by saving lives, preventing injury and reducing the costs of road collisions.
