Because it is the one media device you have with
you whenever you go out.
Because most every unreached person you will
interact with will have one and have it with
them.
Because you can have the Bible and outreach
media in unreached people’s languages on your
phone
Because you can send those materials on to your
contacts’ phones.
Because it is the one media device you have with
you wherever you may be.

How many languages can you access
the Bible in if you have the Bible.is
app on your phone?
Over 800
How many translations of the JESUS
Film are available for you to have on
your phone?
Over 1200
Not quite. What else might you
need to do now and why?
Download the actual Bible translations and
JESUS Film translations you want to show
people in case you don’t have any/a good
internet connection
Break up into pairs
One of you will pretend to be from another
country. The other should strike up a
conversation and find out what language
they speak and try to access and play a clip
from the JESUS Film in that language. After
the clip is finished e-mail a link to it to the
viewer.
Switch roles. This time the Christian should
try and share John 3 with the person in their
heart language by either showing them the
text in their language if they can read or
playing the audio if they can’t. Once finished
try and e-mail the person a link to the
chapter.
Find and play one of the files that
you transferred from the computer
onto your mobile device.
* Does the file play?
* Does the file play full screen? If
not, can you adjust playback so it
does?
In your pairs, practice Bluetoothing a
GRN file from one person’s phone to the
other. Get in threesomes if one of you has
an iPhone and can’t Bluetooth. Switch
roles as sender and receiver
Media playback is the main must have!
Look (around) before you leap
(purchase)
Avoid the wow factor
GSM phones (using a SIM card) are
more likely to be able to be used
in other countries
The size of the sound is more important
than the size of the screen
Removable memory (microSD card) is a big
plus
If means of charging are scarce, forget the
smartphone (unless it has a removable
battery and you can get 1-2 spares)
Consider whether what you give up worth
what you gain with the iPhone?
… but can’t afford to purchase more than one of them
They can get all those capabilities in one, affordable device, the mobile phone

Anyone with a camera phone and access to a computer and/or internet access can now become a media mogul.
The mobile phone is even more radical of a development than the invention of the Gutenberg Press. While the Gutenberg Press enabled a revolution in media for the well off and literate, the mobile phone’s media producing capabilities offers a similar revolution for the poor and illiterate masses!
