The MMF had a small gathering in Phoenix at the beginning of the year to consider steps we should be taking to move forward as we look to accomplish our vision. In looking forward we took a moment to look back and consider what has happened since that vision was set.
The Mobile Ministry Forum began with a similarly small meeting in Virginia in December of 2010.
It was at that December, 2010 gathering that we felt the Lord was giving us the following vision
This was, for the most part, the entirety of the Mobile Ministry Forum at the end of 2010.
Less than seven years later the Mobile Ministry Forum has grown to a network connecting nearly a thousand participants from over 125 ministries.
But before we get too excited about that growth…
World population in 2010.

As a portion of the world population Christianity has grown by 1.5% in just seven years. It should be noted that Islam, as a portion of the world population, has also grown by 1.3% in that same period of time.
While it’s awesome to note that in just six years the number of complete Bibles grew by over 40% it is sad to see that no scripture whatsoever exists in 53% of the world’s languages and complete Bible translations exist in less than 10% of the world’s population. It’s hard for people to encounter Jesus via their personal mobile device if there’s no scripture in their language!

Considering a large portion of the world population is illiterate or oral preference learners audio Bibles are important. Faith Comes by Hearing is the largest ministry producing audio recordings of New Testaments and the Bible and, in 2010 they had recordings in 500 languages

By 2017 they had more than doubled the number of New Testament or Bible recordings- AWESOME!

The JESUS Film is one of the most widely translated evangelistic tools available and has been used to share the Gospel with tens of millions around the world. By 2010 the film had been dubbed in over 1,000 languages.

In seven short years the number of languages the JESUS Film has been dubbed into increased by nearly 60%.

We’re not seeing the unreached reached moving forward at a very significant pace

While the overall number of missionaries has increased in the past seven years the ratio of missionaries to overall population has decreased and there are hundreds more people needing to be reached for each missionary.

If you don’t know a Christian it’s hard to get to know Jesus. With so few personally knowing Jesus should we be looking at ways to increase non-Christians’ chance of getting to meet one or hear the good news in some other way?

80% increase in the number of internet users in the world (i.e. a near doubling) within the last seven years
Back in 2010 97% of all internet access occurred via a laptop or desktop computer.

The majority of internet access (51.6%) now occurs via a mobile phone!

Back in 200 the next great thing was tablets- everyone needed to get ready for the tablet revolution!
Talk about fizzle, the tablet revolution went nowhere and “phablets” (large size mobile phones) have since taken the lion’s share of business from tablets.

This is what the MMF has done in creating various guides to digital ministry.
A major new focus for the MMF as of 2018 is the equipping/training trainers so that many more, closer to the least reached, can be equipped to take up media ministry.
