  2. 2. <ul><li>-Born in Ireland in 1847 </li></ul><ul><li>-He was invalid until the age of 7 </li></ul><ul><li>-Studied in the Trinity College in Dublin </li></ul><ul><li>-Graduated with honours in mathematics </li></ul><ul><li>-Some of his novels were The Snake Pass, The Jewel of Seven Stars and , of course , Dracula. </li></ul><ul><li>- He died in 1912. </li></ul><ul><li>- Bram Stoker Award : By the Horror Writers Association for major achievements in the genre. </li></ul>Bram Stoker

Dracula, the novel. <ul><li>It is an epistolary novel. </li></ul><ul><li>The dailiy mail review of June 1, 1897 proclaimed it a classic of Gothic Horror </li></ul><ul><li>Influenced by Emily Gerard’s 1885 essay Transylvanian Superstitions </li></ul><ul><li>At first, it was going to be have the title of The Undead or the Dead-Undead </li></ul><ul><li>The most influential novel about vampires and responsible of many theatrical and film interpretations. </li></ul><ul><li>Other novels about vampires which preceded it were Carmilla (1871) by Sheridan Le Fau or John’s Pollidori’s The Vampyre ( 1819). </li></ul>
