  2. 2. Geography <ul><li>Brentwood is roughly divided into two geographic areas. </li></ul><ul><li>Area north of Sunset consists of the rising foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. </li></ul><ul><li>The area south of sunset is mostly flat. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Getty Museum and the VA <ul><li>-The Getty contains art from the Middle Ages to the present. </li></ul><ul><li>-The VA Hospital helps Veterans with all types of health care needs. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Brentwood Country Club and San Vicente <ul><li>Opened in 1948, the golf course is over 6,700 yards. </li></ul><ul><li>It is a par 72 course that is considered one of the finer courses in Los Angeles. </li></ul>

  8. 8. Police Station Fire Department <ul><li>LAPD was established in 1853, as the Los Angeles Rangers. Later became one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the U.S. </li></ul><ul><li>Established in 1886, LAFD has 106 stations. Station #19 being in Brentwood. </li></ul>

It has 72 branches all over California. </li></ul><ul><li>St. Martin of Tours (a Roman Catholic) Church was founded in 1946 is located on Sunset Blvd. It is also a Catholic School. </li></ul><ul><li>Brentwood Presbyterian Church is located on San Vicente. Founded in 1929 and has more than 750 members. </li></ul>
  11. 11. Brentwood-Bel Air Fire <ul><li>November 6th-7th 1961. </li></ul><ul><li>Started in the Santa Monica Mountains. Blew farther south and westward with 50mph winds. </li></ul><ul><li>When the fire finally died it destroyed 6,090 acres of land along with 484 residences and 21 other buildings </li></ul>
  12. 12. OJ Simpson Murder Trial <ul><li>On July 12th 1994 OJ Simpson was accused of murdering his ex wife Nicole Brown and her friend at her condo on Bundy Drive. </li></ul><ul><li>“ most publicized criminal trial in American history” </li></ul><ul><li>Made Brentwood famous. </li></ul>

Rancho San Vicente Y Santa Monica <ul><li>In 1839 Juan Alvarado, the governor, gave 33,000 acres of land in Los Angeles County to man named Francisco Sepulveda. </li></ul><ul><li>San Vicente used to be 130 feet wide with a little railroad. The Los Angeles Pacific Electric Railway </li></ul>
