  1. 1. <ul><li> Positive Influence Negative Influence</li></ul>Remember <br />Whatever your choice as long as you explain WHY you see it as an advantage or disadvantage then you can explain the influence of the media in sport.<br />Attendances may drop - more people watch from home<br />Easier to attract sponsorship<br />Some sports get lots of exposure, while others get none<br />Attendances may rise as people want to see the 'stars'<br />Changes to the rules (eg badminton, volleyball rally-point rules, tennis tie-breaks)<br />Sports personalities lose privacy<br />Events can be sensationalised to promote the media (TV channel, newspaper etc), rather than the sport<br />Encourages participation<br />Changes to event timings (day/night matches)<br />Better informed supporters<br />Develops personalities and role models<br /><ul><li>Gives viewers a close-up view of the action</li></ul>Changes to playing season (eg rugby league)<br />
