positive thinking
By Mike Weston
powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Why positive thinking can help achieving
your dreams?
 You have solid plans but no results
 You can see others being successful and you can only dream
and make plans
 You think that you have ‘all it takes’ to be successful and rich
but others pass you by
 You don’t quite know where to start
We will guide you and show the 13 tools to help you to
achieve your goals and come your dreams true. Check our
blog for more tools
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool # 1: Positive motivation
Ask yourself the key question:
Why do you want to achieve your goals?
Motivation drives your
behavior and if you don’t
know your motivation
you can take the wrong
direction
Know your hidden
‘superpowers’:
Values
Beliefs
Emotions
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Hidden Superpower #1 - Values
 Values are underlining all your actions and if your goal is not
aligned with your value, you will not achieve it
 If you were always told that money have to be earned by hard work,
you will always work hard
 If you want to achieve your goals you have to align them with your
values
When you review your Values with the positive
mindset, you can align them easier with your goals
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Hidden Superpower #2: Belief
 Beliefs are similar to values, but they relate to your fundamental principles.
 Relate your goals to your beliefs
 Beliefs are not always religious. They can be philosophical. They form your
view on the world as the holistic system
 We all have beliefs regardless if you agree or not.
 Beliefs can be very selfish and egocentric as well as altruistic and selfless.
Beliefs are always positive. Use the positive light from your Belief and
employ its power to achieve your goals
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Hidden Superpower #3: Emotions
 Emotions are results of your brain chemical and electrical reactions are are
deeply embodied in your life
 Relate your goals to your emotions. That is the fastest way to success
 Emotions are like steroids; if you show them direction they will boost power
 If you fight with your emotions, you will most likely not achieve your goals
 To change your emotions you would have to re-wire your brain
Make sure that you do not use negative
emotions in your goals. Always use positive
thinking to creative emotion.
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool # 2: Superpowers
 Superpowers are there for you NOT against you
 Understand what your BELIEFS, VALUES and EMOTIONS are in relations to
your goal
 They are like steroids on wheels, use them wisely
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #3: Positive Mindset
 Mindset is: how you feel at the time
 Feel happy and optimistic when setting and reflecting on your goals
 If you are in the negative mindset, think about the time when you were very
happy and saw only the bright colours
 Replace your negative thoughts with positive ones.
 Natural curiosity will help to restore your positive mindset
“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you will start having
positive results” Willie Nelson
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #4: Counter your fears
 The main principle of psychology is: Humans have issues.
 You and many others have some past experiences – about which you have
already forgotten - which trigger unexplained emotions and reactions.
 These reactions and fears come usually in unexpected moments sabotaging
your efforts to achieve something valuable
 If any of your goal or sub goals somehow trigger your old fears, you will start
acting irrationally and will not be able to explain it logically.
 Best and only way to work with your fears is to examining them day by them
and when they arise.
Positive thinking will help you working with your fears. Fears are always negatively charged
and once you understand them change them into positive charge with positive thinking
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #5: SMART plan
 If you want to achieve your goals you need to have a plan. Your plan must
be:
 Specific – you need to be clear, in details what you want to achieve. Write it
down!!!
 Measurable – you need to have the measurement to know if the goal has
been achieved or not.
 Achievable – goals must be within your range, not outside your capability
(you can always extend your capability)
 Relevant – it has to be somehow important to you
 Timed – you need to have a time frame for your dream
Remember to charge your SMART plan with the positive energy, emotions and
thoughts to make it effective
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #6: Positive affirmation to support your goal
 Daily positive motivational affirmation-short statement
focused on your goal will:
 Support your goal daily
 Keep your brain and attention focused on your dream
 Ignite your energy so your dream to comes true
 Keep you positive all the day
 Help you to counter your fears and negative emotions
 Empower your good intentions
 Remind you about your goals every day
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #7: Positive attitude
 You have to see the goal in the positive light
 You can not hate your goal
 Have fun when achieving your dreams
 Create positive emotions around your dream
 Check out our blog to learn how to change from negative to positive
thoughts in minutes
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #8: Focus on your actions not always on the end
goal
 Think about yourself as the small computer following the plan
 You may love your goal but taking actions towards it are
hated. You need to ensure you like the actions too
 Once you accepted the goal, you have to start focusing on
step action not on the goal itself
 You will still need daily motivation to keep you on track to the
end goal
 Concentration and focus are key to your success
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #9: Remove clutter and negativity
 You need clarity and the peace of mind so you have to create
the visual environment friendly to your goal
 Remove papers, mobile, emails, TV, radio, news feeds
 Switch off the bell and your phone
 Stop multitasking (it is not good for anyone)
 Set up for one job only and complete it.
 Do not allow any doubts or negative thoughts
 Stop any negative emotions at the very beginning
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #10: Break it down
 Allow a lot of time for celebration
 Break down your plan in achievable small chunks of work.
This will boost your positivity and gratitude after achieving
this work
 Seeing the big picture and the gap to it can start arising some
doubts
 Ensure that you celebrate each of the steps with great
enthusiasm and positive thoughts – this will drive motivation
 Stress is not a tool that will help you so remove it and think in
the positive manner
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #11: VIPER method
 Visualize the goal
 Implement
 Planning
 Execution
 Recap
 Ensure that each of these steps
have positive charge.
 When visualizing you have to
apply some positive emotion such
as hope or love.
 When implementing and
executing you should develop a lot
of gratitude etc.
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #12: Approach obstacles with positive curiosity
 There will be delays and obstacles to achieve your goal.
 Develop positive curiosity so you can see all of the delays and
obstacles as the form of new adventure not problems
 See obstacles as new experiences and learning curve which
gives you a new opportunity to work with
 Positive thinking changes everything into adventure and fun
and it is very effective
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Tool #13: Role Playing
 Role playing is the best learning techniques
 It activates all our senses, emotions and enforces visualization
 Helps to develop public speaking skill
 It is fun to role play for 10 minutes per day
http://www.powerofpositivethinking.co.uk
Summary
 The 13 tools you have just learned are backed up by positive
psychology science
 Positive thinking will guide you through difficulties and
obstacles when achieving your dreams
 Remember to check our blog for more explanations of tools
and a lot of other practical techniques
