2. Everyone has influence on the people around
us, whether we like it or not. We can all have a
positive influence and make positive change.
However, the span of our influence needs to be

change something by acting on our own.

5. Direct influence means that we can take
specific steps to try to get a thing done
but we do not have control. For instance,
the decisions to use the services we offer
resides with our business partners, but
there are many things we can do to
influence their choice.

6. Indirect influence means that we can only
take actions that encourage the results
we want, but can’t control them or even
push for a decision. Some examples of
indirect influence are projecting a
positive image of ourselves, raising
general awareness and knowledge of who
we are and what we do, or
communicating our positions regarding
issues.

7. 1. Being a “Control Freak” where we attempt to
control circumstances and outcomes that
are beyond our unique responsibility. This
creates very negative direct and indirect
influence on others.
2. Being slothful and irresponsible about the
influences we have.
