PowerPoint Presentation Do's and Don'ts

  1. 1. What makes a PowerPoint Presentation? Do’s and Don’ts
  2. 2. Short Engaging Fun & unique introductions are always well received Introductions that are too personal, too long and somewhat unrelated to the following topic are hardly crowd pleasers or engagers!
  3. 3. • Bullet points with very important information ONLY • Are the keys to a successful Powerpoint Presentation! Long paragraphs where the observers find themselves reading the slide information often results in the observer missing out on what the presenter is saying as it is often the case that the presenter is repeating what is stated on the slide whilst adding some more examples or important and engaging information. This results in a weak Powerpoint presentation- rather stick to key points and ‘springboard’ phrases, as well as a visual stimulus. Sorry am I waffling?
  4. 4. COLOUR COLOUR COLOUR COLOUR COLOUR Make use of APPROPRIATELY! BE AWAREOF CERTAIN COLOUR COMBINATIONS FOR YOUR VIEWERS!
  5. 5. Keep animations simple Keep pictures involved often Keep visuals engaging There is such a thing as too much visual aid and overload of animations! They can be unnecessary and very time consuming!
  6. 6. General care and effort put into a PowerPoint presentation will never go unnoticed! Stick to these rules and your presentation will always be a winner!
