The following companies are the telecommunications companies that are providing broadband to the Loughlinstown area. There are fourteen companies available to this area which is a large quantity giving the residents and businesses in the area a variety of different price plans to suit the needs of the user.
Wireless Companies (Imag!ne, Digiweb)

Options available for my business
There are numerous options that need to be considered whilst deciding which broadband service provider will benefit my business the most. The criteria for my business that I want is that there is:

Excellent internet connection so that files maybe uploaded and downloaded at a superb speed. Another aspect that is crucial would be that the Skype connection be of high quality to engage with customers at a cheaper rate.

Cable Broadband
UPC is the only cable broadband provider in the Loughlinstown area. Cable broadband is usually more expensive as it is faster than other internet providers. Advantages of using Cable broadband are that it does not require a phone service to operate. The internet is “always on” which saves connecting time. This can be beneficial to a business as time wasted on connecting to the internet is taking time from other tasks that need to be done.
http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Pros-and-Cons-of-Cable-Broadband-Internet-Service&id=4353113
UPC
Is a Cable broadband provider which means that the internet is transported through Coaxial cables which delivers a signal for the internet. You can get a package of digital TV, fibre power broadband and home telephone.
This may be ideal for someone who runs their business from home as they get additional features that can be used outside of work i.e. Digital TV.
UPC
The previous charts were the different plan providers that UPC have for people living in the Loughlinstown area. The plan that would be best suited for my business from UPC would be the Fibre Power Broadband 30 & Home Phone Anytime world. The reason that this package could potentially be one of the options I would take would be because they supply me with a landline which gives me free calls to other landlines and internationally.
Another reason would be that although it is the second most expensive plan/month at €52.00 it is worth it as the download and uploading speed are high which gives me faster connectivity to attach emails, download music and a higher standard for Skype.
ADSL Companies
ADSL broadband enables data to travel through copper telephone lines. It is one of the fastest means of broadband and it is very cost effective.
An advantage of using an ADSL line is that you are connected to one phone line therefore you know that your line is private.
An ASDL line offers download speeds of up to 8Mb/s and upload speeds of 800Kb/s.
Eircom is the principal provider of fixed line telecommunications servers in Ireland with 2.6 million users.
Eircom

With over 21 broadband package deals available in Loughlinstown it is by far the most popular ADSL broadband provider.
Price plans start at €24.99 up until €74.99 this range is very cost effective considering some UPC plans are more expensive.
The majority of plans have benefits of and ADSL/phone line, line rental included, free calls to landlines and free calls to international.
The download speed ranges from 1Mb to 24Mb giving the buyer a variety of choice.
The upload speed ranges from 128kb to 768kb this is important especially for a business if most contact is done via emails as attachments, files, photos will be uploaded quickly.

http://www.bonkers.ie/provider-directory/29-eircom
Mobile Companies

Mobile Broadband consists of inserting a ‘Dongle’ into the computers USB. This is an advantage as the Dongle is portable and can be transported with you anywhere you go. In Loughlinstown there are 6 mobile companies available to use. With 3 mobile currently offering the cheapest price of €9.99/month and a peak download of 7.2Mb.
Advantages of using mobile broadband are that it is portable and there is no need for wiring, cables etc.
Disadvantages of using mobile broadband are that the reception may vary due to location which effects different functions of the dongle such as satisfactory Skype connection. Also the band width is less than other types of broadband.

http://www.bonkers.ie/compare-broadband/dublin-18/broadband-in-loughlinstown/
Vodafone V 3 Mobile

Vodafone is Ireland’s leading mobile company so we will take a look at some of their plan providers.
3 Mobile was the first to launch the mobile broadband in Ireland. For high speed mobile broadband 3 Mobile has 94% population coverage.

Vodafone
Vodafone wins!

If I had to chose a mobile broadband option I think the one best suited for my business would be the Vodafone broadband unlimited for €24.99 as there is no contract which means it can be terminated if it didn’t meet my criteria also the data allowance is uncapped therefore giving me more availability.

Wireless Companies

Wireless broadband is being able to connect to the internet without manually connecting your computer to a modem. You connect to a router which is then connected to a modem.
Advantages of using wireless broadband is that many computers can connect to this router without disturbing other users and it can also be accessed in different areas around the house. There is usually a 100metres radius from the router if one goes further than this the connection gets lost.
Disadvantages of using wireless broadband is that unless you have security protecting your broadband other people can have access to your broadband.

Imag!ne
Broadband Chosen

The option that I have chosen for my business is the Fibre Power Broadband 30 & Home Phone Anytime from UPC. The reason that I chose this option is that the it is very cost effective with it being only €52.00/month but it includes line rental. The speed is of a reasonable standard for uploading videos and files. This is of highly importance for my business as I think it is extremely important to have an excellent broadband connection so that I can access Skype for the business. The reason for this is that if the download/upload speed is not up to standard then the Skype is affected.
It is also important for sending emails and media files that the download/upload speed is high.

References

http://www.bonkers.ie/provider-directory/41-3-mobile
