  2. 2. 9:00 November 22, 1963 <ul><li>President Kennedy gives his final Speech in Fort Worth, Texas. </li></ul><ul><li>After he finishes and greets the people, he gets on Air Force One for a 9 minute flight to Dallas. </li></ul>
  3. 3. 11:35 November 22, 1963 <ul><li>President Kennedy arrives at Love Field in Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Kennedy is given Red flowers when she is greeted. </li></ul><ul><li>After about a half-hour, the president and his staff get into an open limousine to take him on a ten mile trip into Downtown Dallas. </li></ul>

  11. 11. November 22, 1963 <ul><li>At around 1:55, officers arrest Lee Harvey Oswald and charge him with 1 count of Capital Murder. (Tippitt) </li></ul><ul><li>At 2:37, Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as the 36 th President of the United States. He is aboard Air Force One. </li></ul>
  12. 12. November 22, 1963 <ul><li>Kennedy’s Casket arrives at AFB, and is then transferred to Bethesda Naval Hospital for the Autopsy. President Johnson also makes his first speech. </li></ul><ul><li>Oswald is officially charged in the president’s death at around 11:40 P.M. </li></ul>

  14. 14. 11:19 November 24, 1963 <ul><li>Oswald is shot while being transported to the county jail by Jack Ruby. He is pronounced dead at 1:09 P.M. </li></ul><ul><li>This Picture below (Dallas Herald) won a Pulitzer Prize in 1965. </li></ul>
  15. 15. November 24, 1963 <ul><li>Kennedy’s body now lies in state at the Rotunda on Capitol Hill. </li></ul><ul><li>At around 8:00 PM, The line to see the president’s body is over 2.5 Miles. </li></ul>

November 25, 1963 <ul><li>Kennedy is moved from the rotunda to St. Matthew’s Cathedral for the Funeral. </li></ul><ul><li>The Funeral began at around 11:10 AM, with Cardinal Cushing of Boston presiding. </li></ul><ul><li>Over 40 foreign dignitaries were present, including Queen Elizabeth II of England. </li></ul>
