City Slicker

  1. 1. Assignment 8: Premium Denim MPDV 2300 Trend and Design Application Sharon Jaffe Summer, 2013 Michael Hayashi
  2. 2. Premium Denim A/W 14/15
  3. 3. Concept Form A/W 14/15 Concept: City Slicker is inspired by the urban, city dweller. Denim transcends every style, which allows it to become a staple in every wardrobe. Classic denim silhouettes become cool with modern details and trims. This collection is rooted in traditional biker/mechanic styling and structural, yet soft construction. Made for a ‘cool’, young professional who lives each day as an adventure. Trends: Entire denim looks are huge for the up-coming Fall season. Darks and lights are mixed or paired together for contrasting and monochromatic looks. Quilting and pintucking methods update denim looks for A/W 14/15. These details add an edgy look to wardrobe essentials. The tapered silohuette makes for a comfortable, yet trendy look. They allow cuffing or rolling to show off leather shoes or to play with proportions. Laundry techniques are used to create ‘worn-in’ looks and contrasting leather pieces add edge. Colors: Blacks, greys, and dark neutrals are always key colors for Fall. Denim plays on the extremes of the spectrum with an extremely light wash or midnight Indigo. Fabric: Different weights of denim are used for pants, tops, and outerwear. Chambray is used for lighweight tops to layer under jackets. Trims: Faux leather is used to contrast the denim. Industrial notions are essential for this collection Laundry: Stone and enzyme washed are used for lighter colored denims. Shadow washes are used for pocket details on tops and bottoms. Silhouettes: Tapered, skinny, and cropped denim jeans. Trucker jackets, gilets, button up shirts, and basic t-shirts.
