America and Russia, theworld’s leading arms suppliers,accounted for around two-thirdsof deliveries to the developingworld. America’s exports inparticular are helped by a long-standing client base, which ordersupgrades, spare parts and supportservices every year. Arms dealswere buoyed last year by unusuallyhigh demand from Saudi Arabia.The Middle Eastern country is thedeveloping world’s biggest armsbuyer; deliveries were $2.8 billionin 2011.
