Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth_ (224)

  1. 1. Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth?Who was Jesus associated with Nazareth? For nearly two thousand many years, the world hasdebated this question. Some say He would be a prophet. Some think he or she was a madman. Stillothers think He was a great teacher. But for those who recognize His voice, the question is not Whowas Jesus associated with Nazareth?, but rather Who is Jesus of Nazareth? Because unlikeadditional men of history, christ of Nazareth was, is actually, and will be for all of eternity.A careful examination of the historic record reveals that christ of Nazareth is nothing less than theWord of God home as flesh among males. The Holy Spirit associated with God became a man aswell as walked among us:"at first the Word already existed. The word was with God, and the Word was God." john 1:1 (NLT)"So the Word became human and made his home among us." John 1:14 (NLT)"In Christ lives all the fullness of lord in a human body." Colossians two :9 (NLT)While most of the worlds people desperately look for truth - to become nearer to God Almighty, thecreator of the Universe - the door is wide open for them to encounter a personal relationship with thatsame God. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Their name is Jesus of Nazareth. But dont take my word for it. God has a number of identifiable character characteristics. If Jesus ofNazareth is worthy of the name of God Almighty as well as Lord of Heavens Armies, then thehistorical account of His life will reveal that He shared these unique traits. Lets examine them.Omniscient (All-Knowing)The meaning of God requires Him to become all-knowing. God must have understanding of all things, including the thoughts associated with others. Did Jesus display this character trait? indeed. He did.History discloses a number of instances in which christ displayed His omniscience. RIght here, wellexamine a few.The Coin In The Fish - Jesus illustrated His knowledge of the future, as well as His understanding ofthe most minute details of creation when He revealed in order to His disciples that they were to catcha fish, open its mouth, and find a large silver coin inside:"go down to the lake and toss in a line. Open the mouth of the first seafood you catch, and you willfind a large silver coin." Matthew 17:27 (NLT)The Samaritan Woman - on meeting a Samaritan lady, Jesus told her everything she had ever done. His knowledge was enough in order to convince her that He was the Messiah, and His words wereenough to convince many in her town that hes the Living Son of God:"Many Samaritans from the village believed in jesus because the woman had stated, He told meeverything i ever did!" john 4:39 (NLT)"You Know Everything" - the disciples, who spent additional time with Jesus during their earthlyministry than other people, testified that He knows every thing - the very definition of omniscience:"Now we realize that you know everything, and theres you dont need to question you. From this webelieve that you came from God." john 16:30 (NLT)"A third time he requested him, "Simon son associated with John, do you love me personally" Peter
  2. 2. was hurt which Jesus asked the query a third time. He said, Lord, you know everything. You knowthat i really like you." John 21 :17 (NLT)12-Year aged Jesus In The Temple -- As a young boy, christ and His family made a pilgrimage to theTemple in Jerusalem. While there, Jesus astonished the Jewish religious instructors with Hisunderstanding:"three days later they lastly discovered him in the temple, sitting among the religious instructors, listening to them and asking questions. All who heard him or her were amazed at his understandingand his answers." Luke 2 :46-47 (NLT)"how does He Know All This?" -- Jesus taught in the forehead, and the people were amazed at thedepth of His understanding, since He was not a guy educated and trained by men:"Then, midway through the festival, Jesus proceeded to go up to the Temple as well as began toteach. The people had been surprised when they heard him. How does he know so much when hehasnt been trained? they requested." John 7:14-15 (NLT)"One Of You Will Betray Me" - Jesus had fore-knowledge of His betrayal. He knew that one of thevery trusted members of his inner-circle would betray him or her :"Then Jesus stated, I chose the twelve of you, but one is a devil. He was speaking of Judas, son ofSimon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, who does later betray him." steve 6:70-71 (NLT)Jesus Knew Of His death - Jesus had full knowledge of His purpose within coming into the world. Heunderstood what would happen to Him, the hands by which it would happen, and the miraculousevent which would take place three days later :"From then on Jesus started to tell his disciples plainly that it was necessary for him to go toJerusalem, and that he would suffer many terrible points at the hands of the elders, the leadingpriests, and the teachers associated with religious law. He would end up being killed, but on the 3rdday he would be elevated from the dead." Matthew sixteen :21 (NLT)Omnipotent (All-Powerful)A second character trait of God is omnipotence. By definition, God is all-powerful. He has power totalthings. Did Jesus of Nazareth exhibit this character trait? History reveals he did.The Power To eliminate Sin - According to the old Testament, only God has the ability to forgive sins. And the Prophet Jeremiah prophesied of the day when God will forgive men of their wickedness andnever again remember their sins:"And I will eliminate their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins." Jeremiah 31:34(NLT)Yet, in spite of His knowledge that only God may forgive sins, Jesus obviously announced His ownpower to eliminate sins, thus revealing themself as God:"seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, My child, your sins are forgiven. But some of theteachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to on their own, What is he saying This isblasphemy! Only lord can forgive sins! " Mark 2:5-11 (NLT)Power To Lay Down their Life - Throughout history, men and woman have died. Despite the immensepower some of these individuals wielded, not a single one of them displayed the ability to come back
  3. 3. to life once dead. Yet Jesus claimed to have this power:"the father loves me because i sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. No one can take my lifefrom me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay this down when I want to also to take itup again." steve 10:17-18 (NLT)Three days and three evenings after His crucifixion, jesus of Nazareth exhibited this particular power.Power Over blowing wind and Waves - like one would expect of lord, Jesus of Nazareth experiencedpower over wind and waves:"When jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the flaming waves. Suddenly the storm stopped andall was relaxed. Then he asked them, Where is your faith? the actual disciples were terrified andamazed. Who is this man they asked one another. When he gives a order, even the wind and wavesobey him!" luke 8:24-25 (NLT)Power Over Fish - much like His power of the blowing wind and waves, Jesus illustrated His powerover all of creation by commanding the very movements of fish:"Then he said, Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and youll get some ! So theydid, plus they couldnt haul in the net because there were so many fish in it." John 21:six (NLT)His Breath Blew Down Soldiers - the actual Roman Army is known throughout human history as oneof the most ruthless and powerful fighting causes the world has ever known. Yet, christ of Nazarethcast Roman soldiers to the ground with the very breath of His mouth area :"As Jesus stated I AM he, they all drew back and fell to the ground!" John 18 :6 (NLT)Power over Physical RealmIn addition, the actual miracles of Jesus testify to His identity. These people proclaim His power withinthe physical universe:"a man with leprosy came as well as knelt in front of Jesus, pleading to be healed. If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,a he said. Moved with empathy, Jesus reached out and touchedhim. I m willing, he said. Be healed! Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed."Mark one :40-42 (NLT)"following Jesus left the womens home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, Son ofdonald, have mercy on us!a They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus askedthem, Do you believe I can make you see? Yes, head of the family, they told him or her, we do.then he touched their eyes and said, Because of your belief, it will happen. then their eyes wereopened up, and they could see!" Matthew nine :27-30 (NLT)"one of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him as well as knewhe had been ill for a long time, he asked him or her, Would you like to get nicely I cant, sir, the sickguy said, for I have no one to put me into the swimming pool when the water bubbles up. Someoneelse always gets presently there ahead of me. christ told him, Stand upward, pick up your mat, andwalk! Instantly, the person was healed! He rolled away his sleeping mat and began walking!" Johnfive :5-17 (NLT)"he saw that they were in severe trouble, rowing hard as well as struggling against the wind as well aswaves. About three oclock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. He
  4. 4. intended to go past all of them, but when they saw him or her walking on the water, these peoplecried out in terror, considering he was a ghost." mark 6:48-49 (NLT)And Jesus performed many other miracles which required power within the physical universe, far toomany to become examined here.Omnipresent (Ever-Present)By definition, God is omnipresent. He is everywhere at all times. He exists in all places in the past, present, and long term. Can this be said of jesus Did Jesus of Nazareth really exhibit this charactertrait? Yes. He do."I Saw you Under The Fig Tree" - Upon first meeting Nathanael, Jesus proclaimed that He noticedhim under the fig sapling earlier that day. His statement mesmerized Nathanael, who recognized thisas knowledge which no other man could have. But Jesus was there. Since the omnipresent Spirit ofgod, He was present when Nathanael was under the fig tree:"As they contacted, Jesus said, Now this is a genuine son of Israel - a man of total integrity. How areyou aware about me? Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, I could see you under the fig tree beforePhilip found you. Then Nathanael exclaimed, Rabbi, you are the son of God - the King of Israel!a "John 1:47-49 (NLT)The Holy Spirit -- God is Spirit, and the Spirit of God grew to become flesh in the name of Jesus ofNazareth:"In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with god, and the Word was lord. Heexisted in the beginning with God. God created every thing through him, and nothing was madeexcept through him. The term gave life to everything that was created, and his life introduced light toeveryone. The sunshine shines in the darkness, and also the darkness can never extinguish this."John 1:1-5 (NLT)Be With You Always - Reminding them of his omnipresence, Jesus assured his disciples He wouldalways be together, even to the end of the age :"And be sure of this : I am with you always, even going to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20 (NLT)This unique ability to be present with each individual (not just the 12 disciples, but all who believe inHim), at all times throughout history, is demonstrative of the omnipresence of Jesus.Him Who Fills All - In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul testifies that christ "fills all things everywherealong with himself":"And the chapel is his body; its made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things almosteverywhere with himself." Ephesians one :23 (NLT)EternalYet another characteristic of God is His eternal nature. God is not bound by period or death. He is theforemost and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega. According to the Old testomony, there is no otherGod:"This is what the Lord says - Israels King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heavens Armies: I am the Firstand the last ; there is no other God.a " Isaiah 44:6 (NLT)Does this character trait describe Jesus of Nazareth? The Apostle John claimed yes:
  5. 5. "When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if we were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and stated,Dont be afraid! I am the first and the Last." Revelation one :17 (NLT)What did Jesus Say?So much, weve examined the evidence because recorded by the Old testomony prophets and theNew testomony witnesses. But what did Jesus Himself have to state about this subject? If were trulythe righteous spiritual teacher and holy guy many claim Him to become, would He call himself God ifto do so were false? Of course not. Yet this is just what Jesus claimed. On numerous occasions, Heunequivocally stated that He is God Almighty. The Father and I Are One - Jesus Himself claimed to become equal with God:"The Father and I are one." steve 10:30 (NLT)Before Abraham, I AM - according to the Old Testament, when Moses requested to the know thename of God, the Almighty replied "I AM":"but Moses protested, If i go to the people of Israel and tell them, The god of your ancestors hasdelivered me to you, theyll ask me, What is actually his name? then what should I tell them? Godreplied to Moses, I AM WHO im. Say this to the individuals of Israel: I AM offers sent me to you. "Exodus 3:13-14 (NLT)In answering His experts, Jesus proclaimed Himself to be "I AM":"Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, i am !" John 8:fifty eight (NLT)"Philip, not Know Me?" - whenever Philip asked to see the daddy, Jesus plainly told him he hadalready seen the daddy. To look upon Jesus, would be to look upon the Father:"Jesus replied, Have we been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still have no idea who I am?Anyone who has observed me has seen the daddy ! So why are you asking me to show him to you?a" John 14:9 (NLT)You Will See the son of Man on Clouds associated with Heaven - While position before the HighPriest to be interrogated, Jesus was asked who He was. NObody with knowledge of the Oldtestament scriptures can mistake his response:"Jesus replied, You have said it. As well as in the future you will see the boy of Man seated in theplace of power at Gods correct hand and coming on the clouds of heaven. " Matthew 26:64 (NLT)By claiming they would see Him seated in the host to power at Gods right hand, Jesus wasproclaiming Himself to be the Lord from the Old Testament:"the lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor inside my right hand until we humble yourenemies, making them a footstool under your feet." Psalm 110:one (NLT)By claiming they would see Him coming on the actual clouds of heaven, jesus was proclaimingHimself to be the One whose rule is eternal:"As my personal vision continued that evening, I saw someone like a son of man coming with theclouds of heaven. He or she approached the Ancient 1 and was led in to his presence. He was givenauthority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations around the globe, so that people of every raceand nation and vocabulary would obey him. His rule is eternal -- it will never end. Their kingdom willnever be destroyed." Daniel 7:13-14 (NLT)
  6. 6. Jesus proclaimed Himself to be the one and only God Himself.Accepts praise From Others Without Rebuke - In addition to His claims, what Jesus didnt state has alot to say about His identification. For example, Jesus clearly mentioned a person must only worshipGod:"Get out of here, Satan, jesus told him. For the actual Scriptures say, You should worship the Lordyour lord and serve only him or her." Matthew 4:10 (NLT)Yet, when people worshipped Jesus or fell down at His feet or called Him Lord, he did not rebukethem. He or she did not respond to them by saying, "Im only a man. Dont worship me." instead, Heperpetuated the notion he should be honored like lord the Father:"He has provided the Son absolute expert to judge, so that everyone may honor the Son, just likethey honor the Father." john 5:22-23 (NLT)The following examples show jesus accepting this high praise and honor:"My Lord and my lord ! Thomas exclaimed. Then Jesus told him, You believe because you haveseen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me. " John 20:28-29 (NLT)"Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. Lord, the man said, if you arewilling, you can heal me and make me thoroughly clean." Matthew 8:2 (NLT)"But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, Lord, help me !" Matthew 15:twenty five (NLT)"And as these people went, Jesus met all of them and greeted them. And they ran to him, understoodhis feet, and worshiped him." Matthew 28:nine (NLT)"Yes, lord, I believe! the man said. And he worshiped Jesus." steve 9:38 (NLT)In each of these instance, human beings gave Jesus praise, honor, and titles worthy of God alone. And He gladly accepted their praise. What Did lord Almighty Say?If jesus were the only witness of His divinity, then He shouldnt be believed. But Hes not the only realwitness. His Father in heaven also testified to the identity of Jesus associated with Nazareth:"And a tone of voice from heaven said, This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me personally greatjoy." Matthew 3:17 (NLT)I Will Share My beauty With No OneThe Old testomony clearly documents Gods intention to share His glory with no one else:"im the Lord; that is my name ! I will not give my personal glory to anyone else, nor share my praisewith carved idols." Isaiah forty two :8 (NLT)In fact, one of the ten commandments prohibits worship of false gods:"You must not have every other god but me." Exodus 20:3 (NLT)If God will not share his glory with anyone else, after that by definition, Jesus associated withNazareth can not share in their glory. Unless, of course, jesus and God are one and also the same. And this is the placement put forth by the Creator from the Universe:Gods Voice SpeaksGod testified before men he would bring glory to the name of Jesus:"Father, bring glory to your name. Then a tone of voice spoke from heaven, saying, I have already
  7. 7. brought glory to my name, and i will do so again. " John 12:28 (NLT)And Jesus spoke of the glory they share:"Now, Father, bring me into the glory we discussed before the world began." john 17:5 (NLT)Following the birth of jesus, a host of angels praised lord in full sight of men, thus giving glory toJesus:"Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others - the armies of heaven - praising God andsaying, Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on the planet to those with whom lord ispleased." luke 2:13-14 (NLT)John also testifies to the glory of Jesus:"we have seen his glory, the actual glory of the Fathers one and only Son." John 1:14 (NLT)Its the same glory God proclaimed He would give to His son in the old Testament:"The king proclaims the Lords decree: The Lord said to me personally, You are my son. Today Ihave become your father." Psalm 2:seven (NLT)How could lord glorify Jesus, and remain true to His word never to give His glory to anyone else, unless giving beauty to Jesus is the same as providing glory to God?ConclusionThe characteristics of God, all shared by Jesus associated with Nazareth, reflect the fulfillment of anOld Testament prophecy - a promise to the world. God promised a sign, that the virgin wouldconceive a kid, a boy whose name means God is with all of us, meaning He would be God in theflesh:"All right then, the Lord themself will give you the sign. Appear ! The virgin will conceive a child! Shewill give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means God is by using us)." Isaiah7:fourteen (NLT)This prophecy had been fulfilled in the birth of Jesus of Nazareth:"As he considered this, a good angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, the angel said, do not be afraid to take jane as your wife. For the kid within her was conceived by theHoly Spirit. And she will have a son, and youre simply to name him Jesus, for he will save hisindividuals from their sins. all this occurred to fulfill the Lords message through his prophet: Look! The virgin may conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and theyll call him Immanuel, whichmeans God is with us." Matthew 1:20-23 (NLT)Yet, despite this miraculous sign, and also the miraculous life which followed, most of the world hasfailed to recognize the Creator among them. They Did Not Recognize HimThis may be the message of the Gospel of John. God came into the world in human form, the veryworld He produced failed to recognize Him:"He came into the very globe he created, but the world didnt recognize him." john 1:10 (NLT)Even those who lay claim to the wisdom of this world failed to recognize their own Creator:"But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified ourglorious Lord." one Corinthians 2:8 (NLT)
  8. 8. Even many self-proclaimed christians fail to recognize the true identification of Jesus of Nazareth. Heis the Christ, the lord of lords, and full of kings. He is the actual Alpha and the Omega, the start andthe end.Dont replicate the mistakes of those who refuse to acknowledge the glory of Jesus of Nazareth. Hesmore than a holy man, the prophet, and a teacher. Hes God among us.Jeremiah 29
