A Podcast Is... <ul><li>A piece of pre-recorded media delivered to subscribers for download via the web. </li></ul><ul><li>On demand, not broadcast live </li></ul><ul><li>Can be audio or video </li></ul><ul><li>Nothing to do with the Apple iPod </li></ul><ul><li>Emerging media format, still young </li></ul><ul><li>Subscription based, fans subscribe to an RSS feed and are notified of new episodes as they hit the feed. </li></ul><ul><li>Usually an mp3 file for audio but could be any format </li></ul>

You need a good idea, something interesting to viewers or listeners </li></ul><ul><li>Perhaps include some music but make sure you can legally use it. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>...or if you're really serious about podcasting you could get a bespoke theme made, ask me about that ;) </li></ul></ul>

  13. 13. Upload Your Content <ul><li>Produce a file, mp3, ogg whatever. A finished product </li></ul><ul><li>Upload your media file and publish, your feed should update. </li></ul><ul><li>That's it you've published a podcast but there's more you can do... </li></ul>
  14. 14. iTunes and Beyond <ul><li>You can add your podcast to iTunes by submitting the feed address. </li></ul><ul><li>Promote your show by listing it in directories: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>PodcastPickle.com </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>PodcastAlley.com </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Use tools like Digg, Twitter, Identi.ca Last.fm and Facebook to connect with new listeners </li></ul>
