  4. 4. 06/06/09 Pride and Hope <ul><li>Hughes life began when the African-American community had just came out of slavery. </li></ul><ul><li>He wrote of things many were afraid to discuss openly. </li></ul><ul><li>He gave his community pride and hope because of his work. </li></ul>

  9. 9. Continue to Progress <ul><li>Always speak you mind, even when it may be unpopular, if you know your speaking the truth. </li></ul><ul><li>You never know what or who you may inspire. </li></ul>
