This tutorial show how using Google Analytics on a Weebly page benefits companies small and large alike in analyzing how engaged their customers are with their website. It explains briefly the ABC cycle basics going deeper into each report category and finally discussing the most common report viewed as the audience overview.

  1. 1. Google Analytics is FREE web analytics service that tracks and reports website traffic.
  2. 2. Lets sign-up and find out what makes Google Analytics the most popular web analysis tool.
  3. 3. Open your favorite browser
  4. 4. If you are not yet signed in to your Google Account. Please do so now.
  5. 5. Key-in google analytics
  6. 6. The search result page appears.
  7. 7. Click “Google Analytics”
  8. 8. The Sign up page appears.
  9. 9. Do make sure that your are signed in to your google account.
  10. 10. Click “Sign up”
  11. 11. The New Account page appears.
  12. 12. Choose “Website”
  13. 13. Key-in your Account Name here.
  14. 14. Your Account Name would be your Company Name.
  15. 15. As an example, key-in “Your Virtual Bliss”
  16. 16. Next key-in your Website Name.
  17. 17. Then key-in your Website URL
  18. 18. I generally use the same website name and website URL for easy tracking.
  19. 19. Next select your “Industry Category”
  20. 20. It is better to select the right category so your data can be compared with businesses similar to you.
  21. 21. As an example, I selected Food and Drink
  22. 22. Next Select your Reporting Time Zone
  23. 23. Scroll down and the data sharing options are shown.
  24. 24. All checked is the recommended setting
  25. 25. Click “Get Tracking ID”
  26. 26. This screen appears.
  27. 27. Finish reviewing the service agreement.
  28. 28. Click “I Accept”
  29. 29. This page appears.
  30. 30. Scroll down to Website tracking.
  31. 31. Copy the Universal Analytics tracking code from here…
  32. 32. Right click mouse after highlighting.
  33. 33. Then click “Copy”
  34. 34. Now we will need to copy this universal analytics tracking code to your website settings.
  35. 35. Go to your business webpage. As an example I will use a Weebly.com webpage.
  36. 36. This is my sample Weebly website.
  37. 37. Click “Edit Site”
  38. 38. The build page appears.
  39. 39. Click “Settings”
  40. 40. The “General” page appears.
  41. 41. Click “SEO” here.
  42. 42. The SEO page appears.
  43. 43. Click in the “Footer Code” box.
  44. 44. Right click your mouse and select “Paste”…
  45. 45. Check if <script> is copied here…
  46. 46. Scroll Down.
  47. 47. Check if </script> is copied here.
  48. 48. It is important that all the information is complete by checking <script> and </script> are included.
  49. 49. If not, kindly go to the Google Analytics tab again and copy the information once more.
  50. 50. Now click the “Save” button.
  51. 51. It may need 24hrs or so to have some data in your Analytics tab. Kindly be patient.
  52. 52. Click your Analytics tab
  53. 53. Your Analytics page appears.
  54. 54. Click here. “Audience”
  55. 55. The reports menu is expanded.
  56. 56. Click “Overview”
  57. 57. This Screen appears.

  70. 70. The main tabs/reports are shown.
  71. 71. Click “ACQUISITION”
  72. 72. ACQUISTION sub-menus are shown.

  76. 76. Top Channels is shown.
  77. 77. Channels means how your customers got to your site.

  80. 80. Organic Search results typically means the traffic came from “non-paid” search results.
  81. 81. 17% from Direct
  82. 82. Direct means traffic came from directly typing your URL.
  83. 83. 16.1% from Social
  84. 84. Social means the visit came from social media like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
  85. 85. Click “All Traffic”
  86. 86. Click “Source/Medium”
  87. 87. This Screen is shown.
  88. 88. #1 traffic comes from Google.
  89. 89. #2 traffic comes from Direct.
  90. 90. #3 traffic comes from YouTube.
  91. 91. Now click “BEHAVIOR” here.
  92. 92. The BEHAVIOR sub-menus are shown.

  94. 94. Click “All Pages”
  95. 95. Scroll Down.
  96. 96. This screen shows the performance of each page in your site.

  98. 98. To reflect the actual page name in your site.
  99. 99. This table shows the no. of Pageviews.
  100. 100. This table shows the Avg. Time on Page
  101. 101. This table shows the Bounce Rate
  102. 102. Ave. Time on Page and Bounce rate typically gives you some insight on how engaging your site page is.
  103. 103. Click on Avg. Time on Page.
  104. 104. Google Women’s Muscle Tee is #1.
  105. 105. Click on Bounce Rate.
  106. 106. Shows the top 0% Bounce rates.
  107. 107. 0% Bounce Rate pages triggered an “action” from your visitor 100% of the time.
  108. 108. 100% Bounce Rate pages means the visitor left your site from this page.
  109. 109. Click “BEHAVIOR” once again.
  110. 110. Click on “CONVERSIONS”
  111. 111. Click on “Ecommerce”
  112. 112. Please note that Ecommerce settings need be done in GA and your website before data can be collected.
  113. 113. Click on “Product Performance”
  114. 114. Product Performance screen is shown.

  125. 125. This tells you from which traffic you are generating your most revenue.

  128. 128. A Transaction ID corresponds to a sales date of transaction.
  129. 129. Click on the histogram tab.
  130. 130. And the Histogram Chart is shown.
